Usually I like the important end of series episodes, but I don't think I've ever felt so under wowed. They could have done so much more with that storyline, also there's just no way this boy will be as good as David Tennant. Also this guys signed a five year contract, groan. They really shouldn't have done that before he's even had an episode, were stuck with him now.

The only upside I see to the next series is that the daleks are back.

I wouldn't assume they can't get rid of him, surely they made him sign one so he didn't go anywhere if he became popular.

Should of played that at the end of the episode.

Brilliant episode, such a great send off. Matt Smith looked good at the end :)

I thought the two parter was a bore fest until certain people turned up.

Those people I'm refering to were the time lords. From them getting onto earth the story line really picked up. It became less hammy.

Did anyone else thing the early time lord scenes (dark rooms) looked naff? It had a feel of a porno movie. There was an anoying women who he thankfuly killed. Also was it the Lister look alike who was another time lord?? Was that the gauntlet we see in Touchwood as well?

Also a scene where the doctor was tied and he was talking to the master, I thought had a pretty good moment. It was when the doctor said he would help him and the master came up real close. That was pretty good.

I think RTD on an episode basis was poor, full of innuendos and hammy scenes. But his story arcs were pretty good his aliens were good as well.

Should of played that at the end of the episode.
yeah I waited until the very end expecting the usual trailer but for some reason they didn't show it which seems a bit stupid to me.

I said that too, definitely should have been on the end of the episode, was waiting and everything.

One of the best regenerations ever, I felt for him when he said he didn't want to go. Only problem I had with it all (apart from the stupid shooting a bullet at a machine to fix time) was how he survived after falling the distance he did. A fall like that killed Tom Baker's Doctor straight away.

I shall miss David's Doctor but at least he went when we all wanted more. Good luck to Matt, it looks like its going to be a good new series.

I would guess it was his mom. The credits just said "Woman"

Somebody clear up why Martha and Mickey were fighting an Sontaran? What year period was that?

Liked how it was 2005 when he said bye to Rose, before the first regeneration

Looks very good. Why on earth didn't the BBC add this to the end of tonights episode?

Love Karen Gillan as the new companion, always thought she was nice when she was in the Kevin Bishop show.

We never heard much of his parents, they probably would have been around during the time war due to regeneration but we know for sure that his grand daughter Susan would have been, if she left Earth.

I don't know what Martha and Mickey were up to and why another Sontaran attack wasn't important to the Dr, but then the current writer is leaving so I guess he didn't care either, especially after the way he sent the Time Lords back in tonights episode.

The only bit I liked was when he said "I don't want to go" other then that it was another poor RTD special, it's a shame all the specials were poor imo

what are you talking about? We had a great beginning, great middle and a great end.. oh no wait. Yeah totally agree with you.

How that man can get so much praise is beyond me. One thing you can always be sure of with RTD is that he will complete an episode with either a run through an underground car park (which is meant to be a spaceship) and a person killing themselves or the Doctor/companion will suddenly find a switch which renders the enemy powerless.

Spoilers below, but to be honest if you're in this thread today then you must have watched the episode tonight, so its your own fault for reading.

SPOILER

THE DOCTOR DIDN'T DIE!*

END SPOILER

I actually rather enjoyed it, but maybe I wasn't expecting an amazing, epic episode since I know RTD's level of intelligence in his episodes. Still, the man knows how to pace an ending and by god did that deliver tonight. RTD has a fantastic imagination, and rather than crap all over him he did bring back the show and turned it into what it is today, so I'm thankful of him. Plus, he recognised that he took it as far as he could and Moffat will take it further but I'm also sure we'll be angry with things Moffat does aswell...still, that's why I love tv shows :)

Matt Smith looks and sounds great especially since its like they're keeping the cheekyness, cannot wait until "Spring" (March?) for it to air as it'll be nice to have a weekly dose of stories. Note though, EVERYONE is going HATE Matt Smith right off the bat. I reckon they'll be a bit smarter while still retaining the cheese factor. An interesting aside we're all ignoring is that while Matt Smith looks like a child, I'm wondering if they'll play into that since they spent alot of time establishing that the doctor is OLD and has been around and knows his shizzle...The trailer was great too.

John Simms was fantastic and I totally dug the Time Lord return, although i was wishing they'd keep them around longer and play off them or at least they dont get fully put back into the Time Lock so we can see them again.

I'll miss Tennant as the doctor but am keen to check out everything else he's been in now (Casanova/Einstein & Eddington/Hamlet) since the man is a very good actor to do what he's done.

Brava!

PS: We should all try to be more like Cribbins in our day-to-day activities.

PPS: Rappy - I'm looking forward to more of your stuff from the next series.

*technically i'm right because he regenerated.

^^

what you said there about us probably hating some of moffats who episodes we probably will and again I agree there with you.

There's going to be some serious hate here coming up to Spring and after! :p

Who was "that woman"?

The Doctor's wife? his mother?

Pete

Like Wilf, I think we'd all like to know the answer to that. Hopefully it's something that the new writing team will pick-up on.

Mother and Susan have already been said. How about I throw in Romana?

I watched the trailer for Matt Smiths doctor, thanks but no thanks its gone all Sarah Jane Adventures are they trying to turn it into a kiddy show?

If i hear 'geronimo' one more time im gonna stab him in his big forhead.

RIP

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
