[Official] Doctor Who Thread

I really hope Moffat doesn't ruin the Dr by completely changing him. Surely the Dr can't ignore who he has been and his experiences. Moffat can't write something that's not linked to his fairytale ideal.

The Doctor has always changed with a regen. It's one of its defining characteristics.

The BFI screened two episodes from Eccleston's run as the Time Lord as part of its Doctor Who at 50 season.

Eccleston - who did not attend the event - praised director Joe Ahearne and joked about potential future 100th anniversary celebrations.

He said: "I love the BFI. I love the Doctor and hope you enjoy this presentation.

"Joe Ahearne directed five of the 13 episodes of the first series. He understood the tone the show needed completely - strong, bold, pacy visuals coupled with wit, warmth and a twinkle in the performances, missus.

"If Joe agrees to direct the 100th anniversary special, I will bring my sonic and a stair-lift and - providing the Daleks don't bring theirs - I, the Ninth Doctor, vow to save the universe and all you apes in it."

Further potential hints that Hurt could be playing the ?8.5? Doctor has also emerged. In a preview of Paul Cornell?s upcoming Doctor Who comic, The Girl Who Loved Doctor Who, look at the positioning of the silhouetted Doctor?

Before all of this, I was under the impression that Eccleston was the Doctor who fought in the Time War.

The first episode of the new series has him checking his face out in the mirror when he visits rose's apartment, as if he'd just regenerated. We'd always assumed it was from the 8th Doctor but it was never directly stated (or shown) so :P

Someone keep me out of this thread. I can't take the excitement with all this news and speculation! Just bring November here, already.

I know what you mean, I keep telling myself I won't come in here because everytime I get stupidly excited and it still seems so far away.

"Doctor Who may not be quite the force it was when it returned with Christopher Eccleston and in its David Tennant heyday in the UK, but has a growing audience in the US on cable channel BBC America.

"It will not return next year until the autumn, giving it plenty of time to recharge batteries. And what better way to do that than with a new Doctor?"

Man, I was really hoping for a return to the April-June run. It's like, they air six episodes, wait a few months, get another six or seven, then wait another few months, get a Christmas special, and then wait a year for another six. :s

Yeah, not sure I really like this super long break style they are doing now. Plus, they are long enough breaks where they are taking chances that people will either forget (not likely in DW's case though) about the show or not care anymore.

Dr Who was off the air for around 20 years. People didn't forget, people still cared. ;)

Maybe in the UK, where it was already a success, but hasn't the US success come only within the last few years? Heck, the only reason I ever started watching it was because it was on Netflix.

I do like the shorter, more focused seasons that UK shows have, I honestly like the schedule of US TV better. At least I know I can expect a show to be back in the Spring, Summer or Fall of each year.

    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
