[Official] Doctor Who Thread

Recommended Posts

Earlier in the week, Peter Davison opened up the possibility of the fifth Doctor making an appearance in the 50th anniversary special when he mentioned he owned a copy of the script.

Female First are now reporting that he will appear in the special. However before we get too excited Davison doesn?t specifically say it?s for The Day of the Doctor, only that he?s doing something for the 50th.

He said: ?I?m making an appearance somewhere over that period of time but I can?t reveal in what.

?I can?t reveal anything specific about it. I?m not allowed to.

?It is a big year for the show and we?re all doing our bit for it. Trust me.?

^ They seem to be keeping everything under tight security. Only a few tidbits here and there come out.

The promo pic was the only proper stuff we have seen so far, expect more beginning of October

I don't know if I should be grateful or not for the lack of official teasers.  I really want to see the trailer but once I do then there is no going back.  I can control my anticipation right now as my mind cant begin to conceive what possibilities may unfold.  I know that in reality I may be let down by another Moffat fairytale but I'm really hoping this satisfies my Dr Who needs.

If you missed out on tickets to the official Doctor Who 50th Celebration taking place at ExCel in London from the 22nd - 24th November, the BBC are offering fans a last chance to get hold of tickets. Due to phenomenal demand, the event sold out almost immediately when they went on sale in July; however, limited numbers are now available to purchase.

To ensure that everyone has a fair chance of securing a ticket, they will only be available through a ballot. The ballot is open now and runs until 10am BST on Monday 30th September. The lucky applicants will be notified on Tuesday 1st October and then have until 10am BST on Thursday 3rd October to complete their purchase. Any unclaimed tickets will go into a further ballot.

Applicants can select their preferred date and entry group and specify the number of tickets that they require (up to 4) at the time of entering the draw. The ballot does not include any pre-purchase of merchandise, autographs or photographs. TARDIS tickets are sold out and will not be included. Ticket prices are ?45 for adults, ?20 for children and ?104 for a family ticket (two adults and two children, prices exclude booking fee).

Entries to the ballot can be made online or by phone.

I had a feeling they would show something after their new flagship show

Steven Moffat has said that Peter Capaldi?s past appearances in the Whoniverse will not actually be ignored and hinted they may serve as a plot point.

Speaking in an interview with Nerd?, he said: ?We are aware that Peter Capaldi?s played a big old part in Doctor Who and Torchwood before and we are not going to ignore the fact.

?I remember Russell [T Davies] told me that he had a big old plan as to why there were two Peter Capaldi?s in the Who universe: one in Pompeii and one in Torchwood. When I cast Peter and Russell got in touch to say how pleased he was, I said, ?Okay, what was your theory and does it still work?? and he said, ?Yes it does. Here it is??

?We?ll play that one out over time. It?s actually quite neat.?

He adds: ?The face is not set from birth. It?s not like he was always going to be one day Peter Capaldi. We know that?s the case because in The War Games he has a choice of faces. So we know it?s not set, so where does he get those faces from? They can?t just be randomly generated because they?ve got lines. They?ve aged. When he turns into Peter he?ll actually have lines on his face. So where did that face come from??

    • Dude, it's a .reg away from a permanent modification. If you're a power user, look it up and keep the .reg and stop being a crybaby expecting MS to include customization for everything on a generalist OS. The default is what's the best UX for the majority of the userbase, non techie people.

    • Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment. Dubbed the Mighty Cuphead Adventure, this is taking a different art direction to the original. "In true Studio MDHR fashion, this game goes beyond just taking inspiration from the classics of the 1980s… it is actually built with technology of the era," the studio explained. "That's right: Mighty Cuphead Adventure is programmed in assembly language and designed with the exacting specifications of the Sega Master System home gaming console in mind." Aside from releasing on PC and modern consoles, Mighty Cuphead Adventure will even be playable on the 1985-released Sega Master System. A release date has not been announced just yet.
    • Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
