Jurassic Park 4 (Rumours and Discussion!)

Pretty sure they can't do that garbage of an idea since Crichton holds all their rights to the Jurassic Park name, and he won't let them tarnish his masterpiece any further....even if it means more earnings for him. This departure from the original storyline is something I'm sure any respectable novelist wouldn't allow.

To be able to make the film, he would have had to sell the rights to the film. They can do whatever they want.

The same thing with the recently remade The Andromeda Strain. It was COMPLETELY different from the novel and the first film. It was extremely loosely based on his novel. The reason it turned out crappy and he didn't have that changed is because he sold the rights a long time ago.

Universal Pictures owned the rights from the 1971 film and they were the production outfit behind the remake. So the rights were still intact.

I'd imagine that Universal Pictures still owns the rights to Jurassic Park, so they can technically do whatever they want.

Plus, if you watch the third Jurassic Park, it no longer says it is Based on the Novel by Michael Crichton, it states Based on the Characters Created by Michael Crichton. So it is technically no longer based on his novel.

Jeff Goldblum Doesn't Say No to Jurassic Park IV

So Laura Dern is in. Sam Neill is out, as is Alessandro Nivola. But what about Dr. Ian Malcolm, Mr. Chaos Theory, the voice of reason himself: Jeff Goldblum? If there?s to be a ?Jurassic Park IV,? will he be in it?

After all, his character survived a near-death on Isla Nublar in the first film to make an appearance in the second, and was even referenced in the third, which means ? ?Who knows?? laughed Goldblum when we caught up with him at the Director?s Guild Honors.

?I don?t know about that,? Goldblum said. ?I don?t know what the future holds. My plate is full right now [since joining the cast of ?Law and Order: Criminal Intent?].?

But once Goldblum started reminiscing about working with Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park films, produced the third, and is producing the fourth, the actor relented a bit.

?It?s all coming back to me now,? Goldblum said. ?I loved doing the other two, and I loved working with Steven. I had a great time? And ostensibly I have time off [from ?Law and Order?] and I could do other films. I just did ?Adam Resurrected?? (more on that film later).

So if Spielberg or fellow ?Jurassic Park? producer Frank Marshall were to call Goldblum up and ask him to reprise his role as the quirky mathematician, he?s at least now open to the idea. ?Maybe,? he said.

Yes... Authors are known for not allowing screenwritiers to completely bastardise their scripts for Hollywood money. Oh wait...

The thread or the film rumours :p

It's going to happen just how much of a fail is it going to be thats the question.

I meant the film of course, I have no problem with the thread :p .

Jurassic Park 4 is Passed On!

Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy just revealed at today's junket for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button that plans have fallen through for a fourth entry in the "Jurassic Park" franchise.

When asked if there was any development on the long-anticipated sequel, Kennedy responded, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."

Since Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III in 2001, Universal has been developing a fourth outing in the successful franchise. The studio commissioned William Monahan and John Sayles to pen a script in '04.

Joe Johnston Talks Jurassic Park 4

Ain't It Cool News got a chance to talk to The Wolfman director Joe Johnston and the interview briefly turned to the possibility of a Jurassic Park 4. Johnston directed the third film in the franchise, which was released in 2001.

"There is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it's nothing like the first three," Johnston told the site, "It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved."

He added that it likely won't be another storyline about a group of people struggling to survive a dinosaur attack. "We've done that and it's been done three times..."

The site commented that they should stay away from an island setting this time. "Why would anybody go back to that island?" Johnston said. "It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it's sort of about studios and Steven [spielberg's] thing and who knows. I think we are at that point where we are due for another one if we are going to do it."

Universal Pictures has not targeted a release date for a fourth film.

    • Windows 11 is getting redesigned taskbar settings in new build by Taras Buria Microsoft is rolling out new Windows 11 preview builds in the Insider program, offering users new features and changes to try ahead of public release. In the Experimental channel (formerly Dev), Microsoft is shipping build 26300.8758, while in the Beta channel, users can download build 26220.8754. The changelogs do not contain much, but there is an important update to taskbar settings. Here is what is new in build 26220.8754: [Taskbar] Taskbar customization just got easier. As we continue to make improvements to the Taskbar experience mentioned last month, we've introduced a dedicated Taskbar Size setting, making it simpler to find, understand, and personalize your ideal taskbar experience. We've also made refinements to the transitions between taskbar sizes for a smoother overall experience. [File Explorer] We've improved the reliability of thumbnail previews for cloud files in the Details pane. The pane has also been reorganized so file properties are easier to find and review at a glance. Fixed an issue where the OneDrive shortcut in File Explorer stops working when File Explorer is run in administrative mode. Fixed an issue where the confirmation dialog might display an internal Recycle Bin file name instead of the original file name when permanently deleting a file. [Sounds] Improved system sounds when using Windows in dark mode. And here is what is new in build 26220.8754: [Smart card removal policy] Administrators can now configure Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Windows 365 sessions that use Microsoft Entra ID (RDS AAD Auth) authentication to automatically disconnect when a redirected smart card is removed. This extends smart card removal policy enforcement to Microsoft Entra authenticated remote sessions, helping organizations meet security and compliance requirements. [File Explorer] Fixed an issue where the OneDrive shortcut in File Explorer stops working when File Explorer is run in administrator mode. [Taskbar] Improved reliability of loading the system tray area of the taskbar. [Sounds] Improved system sounds when using Windows in dark mode.
