Jurassic Park 4 (Rumours and Discussion!)

I'm all for a JP4 as long as it isn't that horrible idea that I heard a while back where they were training dinosaurs to be in the military or something like that. That may not be exactly what it was, but it was such a bad idea that I wanted to find Spielberg and smack him upside his head.

Dinos so smart they learn to use guns -.-. such a horrid idea.

Wouldn't moving the story away from Jurassic Park make it... not Jurassic Park?

not unless its somewhere else but its still Jurassic Park, a bit like Dharma in lost where it lives on outside the island but have the park elsewhere.

Johnston doesn't say they're leaving Jurassic Park, but they're not going back to the island though. Remember in the JP2 they were building a park on the mainland, in San Diego? Maybe that is going to play a part in JP4?

Doubt it, the park in San Diego was the original Jurassic Park setting before John Hammond decided to build an island resort and they only brought back a female adult T-Rex and a baby T-Rex, it was just an amphitheatre not an actual park.

I hope they dont make a dinosaurs on the mainland film, it will just be alien vs predator but with raptors and t-rexes which might sound cool but with idiots like Joe Johnston at the helm like he did with Jurassic Park 3 it didnt really have a script they just made it up as they went along.

They need to go back to Isla Nublar, i want to see the original island all run down now after 5-10 years, all the fences broken with dinosaurs mingling, they have so much awesome source material to work from in Michael Crichtons books but they chose to crap on it from a great height for all 3 films and that makes me sad.

Also i wish the title of this thread was edited, every time i see it i get excited thinking the films actually coming now.

Oh I completely agree with you. I'm just saying that I bet it will be something like a mainland attraction. I don't want it to happen either, but from what he stated, it won't be on the island, so what else could it be?

I really wish they would stop with the PG-13 crap. If they made it like the novels, it would be R, probably a Hard-R too. I'm not saying they need to go for the gore-factor, I just want it to look realistic. I remember the one scene from the first film where the raptor got Muldoon and they've got the camera in front of a big leaf and the raptor is going to town on him and no a single drop of blood can be seen. An attack that violent would have blood going in all directions.

But the story should go back to Isla Nublar. I've wanted to return there for a long time.

They should really give up on JP4 and reboot the franchise in Michael Crichton's memory and make it like the novels.

In fact, I think I'm going to go start re-reading the novel right now lol

I dont think so, i dont think the government would let InGen continue after the T-Rex rampage and all these deaths in San Diego and Isla Sorna.

I love the books so much, i read them both from cover to cover at least once a year maybe twice a year im obsessed with them. The Lost World book was brilliant, there was so much backstory like why it was abandoned, the yields of the eggs meant that the pristine "show floor" Isla Nublar was just a front for a massive factory churning out the eggs, the prion thing that ended up killing a lot of the dinosaurs, etc.. etc.. my heart sunk when they just glossed over all the details in the film, like when sarah is talking to malcolm about how the dinosaurs survived without lysine that was just one line and it trailed off without giving good payoff.

So many awesome setpieces in the first book that would look ace on film, the T-Rex lagoon and waterfall attack, the raptor attack on the lodge and visitors centre, etc.. not to mention all the big speeches, like Malcolms speech at dinner was so much more awesome than the crap they cut down for the film.

I'm sure your right about that, but I can't figure out what else it could be. There's either that or maybe a group of people steal dinosaurs off one of the islands and releases them on the mainland, but that sounds like a stupid idea if that is even close to it.

Maybe he's teasing us and we're really going to be back on one of the islands? His question of why anyone would go back is stupid though. I'm sure there's plenty of dino fans in the world that if that were to really happen, they'd risk it and go. Hell, I know I would. I'd love to see dino in person, that would be awesome.

I can't figure out which direction they could possibly go in though if they're not returning to the island.

The only possible way they could do it is like you said stealing dinosaurs, but like in the Lost World book the BioSyn Corporation taking dinosaur eggs from nests to reverse engineer their own dinosaurs.

Okay, so we finally get to revisit Nedry stealing the embryos from InGEN for Dodgson and then him dying. Maybe BioSyn gets someone on Isla Nublar for a period of time (we go back in time to right after the events of JP1). They get the shaving cream canister and BioSyn starts their own cloning of dinos. But then that begs the question, where do you go from there? You start an amusement park. And we're back to JP1 lol

That is, of course, if they really don't spend much if any time on the island.

I would really rather much have them reboot the franchise. But if that does happen, I pray to God that Spielberg is NOT involved.

I would recommend Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon write the screenplay. Not sure who should direct, but anybody but Johnston and Spielberg PLEASE!

Well it would have to be within 36 hours...remember the coolant in the shaving cream can will only keep the embryos alive for that long ;) lol

Anyways, I'd love to see them get back on Isla Nublar somehow, all the rumors i've heard for JP4 are ridiculous. Like a few of you said, the movies skimmed over Chrichton's awesome books WAY too much, I'd love to see them relive some of the original material, although I can't see that ever happening. I just hope if they do make a JP4, they don't screw it up too much lol.

All depends which source material they use. In the book the island gets obliterated by the costa rican military but in the film they just fly away and thats that, though the deleted scene from the Lost World movie mentions that the island was dismantled and the dinosaurs destroyed it never made it into the final cut so it could go either way.

My point being that although it says in the book that the park on nublar is run off gasoline generators in the films and books its mentioned that Isla Sorna runs off geothermal and the reason that they built the facilities on the island chain is for the geothermal properties, it is a bit of a stretch but they could make out that Nublar was run off geothermal as well and if they ignore the deleted scenes it means that the lab and embryo coolers could run indefinately or at least until the hardware goes faulty, gives enough time for someone else to go to the island and steal some of the embryos/technology.

Being back on the islands in the Jungle is the only way to go. Being in the city just makes me think of Godzilla.

As for reasons to go back, the "lost son" was a perfectly valid reason and "studying them naturally" was equally valid (along with rich family on a yatch having a "break". - Im sure there's more equally valid reasons for a select few to go back. It's far more believable then bringing dinosaurs to cities or other far fetched ideas. Like others have said numerous people would jump at the chance to see but also activist groups would jump to protect them.

As long as Spielberg is invovled in the project - I have hopes.....otherwise.......zilch, even though I will prolly watch it for ol times sake.

Spielberg is what is WRONG with the project. He is the most overrated director in Hollywood. He is the reason the films have all sucked ass to begin with. Let's get someone fresh, someone bold and someone who has balls. Spielberg has none of these things. The best films he's done are his war-related films. Everything else sucked IMO.

I want someone new. I want Spielberg's hands off of the film.

Sorry Hurmoth, I'm pretty sure most people would disagree that Jurassic Park 1 sucked.

While it's possible in his older years now Spielberg has lost touch with what made him such a great director in the past, he's still top notch regardless. He's certainly better than his good buddy Lucas no?

I'll give you that about Lucas, but I still think he's way overrated. At least when it comes to his Sci-Fi films. I couldn't stand JP1 because of all the stuff left out from the novels.

Regardless of what you thought of the first film, it wouldn't hurt for the series to have fresh eyes. And I don't mean the in the director's chair, I mean at coming up with a decent story. JP2 and 3 were lacking in creativity.

What? Spielberg is an excellent director!!! Just cos his latest movies aren't all serious like his early stuff. :\ And Jurassic Park 1 was an excellent movie! I don't think Spielberg was really all that involved with 2 and 3, he was just an Executive Producer?

Executive Producers are more important than a Director. They have final say over every aspect of the film. They hire the Director, they hire the writer(s), etc. He also directed JP2 by the way. He had his hands in all three of the films, both story-wise and directing the first two.

    • Free Software Foundation Europe pushes EU to force Google to allow AI uninstalls on Android by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels Users should be able to fully uninstall AI-based features from Android devices and be able to access interoperability functions, free from Google’s verification requirements, the European Commission has heard as part of an Android interoperability consultation under the Digital Markets Act. These measures were proposed by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) last week when it submitted its documentation. The FSFE noted that Google had started silently installing AI models without telling users. It noted that the EU’s DMA requires companies like Google to allow users to uninstall pre-loaded software from their devices, but in the case of the AI models Google is installing, they reinstall if you delete them, contravening the DMA. To get Google back under control, the FSFE has told the European Commission that there needs to be improvements within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). First, it said that users should be able to fully remove pre-loaded AI components from their devices, with companies being prohibited from silently reinstalling or reactivating them. Second, access to Android interoperability features should not be contingent on registration, authorization, or contractual relationships with Google. This pertains to Google’s attempt to force developers to register with Google, even to publish apps to alternative app stores like F-Droid. Discussing its submission, Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager, said: Google is planning to roll out its Android Developer Certification in September 2026. This will force every Android app developer to register with Google before their software can be installed on certified Android devices, but it should affect those who have removed Google Apps from their device. The program is controversial because it entails the signing of contracts and payment of account fees to Google, as well as the handing over of the identities of developers. It said: The FSFE said that if the Commission’s draft measures remain unchanged, then Google will be allowed to make developers verify their identity. The FSFE believes that asking developers to register is contrary to the text and spirit of the law. In summary, the FSFE has told the Commission that no developer should need a Google account, a Play Store presence, or any agreement with Google to access Android’s interoperability features.
