Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince

The Wiltshire Times reports that filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will take place again at the cloisters at Lacock Abbey:

Scenes from the first two Harry Potter blockbusters were filmed in the village and in the cloisters at Lacock Abbey.

In the most recent film, Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix, the cloisters courtyard is enhanced using computer animation and featured as a courtyard in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

But the filming crews want to return to Lacock with many of the main characters to capture a series of spooky night scenes for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the protagonist Potter, is set to be involved in the local filming.

The movie-making teams now have permission to return for four days in October and film scenes between 5pm and 5am.

High Street and Church Street will be closed and the bus stop outside the George Inn looks set to be relocated for the duration.

"Half-Blood Prince," to be directed again by David Yates and written by Steven Kloves, is targeted for a November 21, 2008 release.

I suppose it will just be the primary scenes for the film as most of the cast have other projects at the moment.

While I love the books a hell of a lot more than the films, it's still nice to see what I read, so I am looking forward to the last two films. Even though a lot of stuff is left out, they do a nice job of making movies out of the books.

Yeah I felt the last movie left alot out so I hope they put in the proper details for this one.

Speaking to Dark Horizons, Jim Broadbent revealed that he has been assigned the goofy name of Horace Slughorn, apparently for some kind of movie about a boy wizard and his friends, who are also wizards. Broadbent described the character as:

a retired teacher of magic who's drawn back out of retirement because he's got some secrets they need in the battle against the Deatheaters and he's quite star struck as a teacher and he's drawn back into the fold because he likes to notch up celebrity students, and he's drawn back by Harry.

I'm going to be so glad when they finish the fourteenth movie or whatever we're going to and I don't have to keep hearing grown men and women throw around names like Slughorn and Deatheaters and Hogwarts and all this crap. It's really getting embarrassing as a society, and it distracts me from my discussions of Anakin Skywalker's midichlorian count as compared to Mace Windu and the rest of the Jedi council.

Bahahah, awesome!

As to him playing Slughorn, its not too bad I suppose, not a bad choice at all, I could see him playing the part well.

Okay, everyone, HPANA has a new post talking about how the WB plans to make an announcement on the director for Deathly Hallows soon as well as talk about the rumors of splitting the movie in half. While they weren't given any specific answer, HPANA says this:

Having just returned from the set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince today at Leavesden Studios, HPANA was told by producer David Barron that an announcement in the near future could address who is directing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as well as answer rumors about splitting the final film into two parts.

While not confirmed at today's visit to the eight-acre home of the Potter films outside of London, this editor's impression was that David Yates will likely direct Deathly Hallows and the film may very well be split as rumored. The upcoming announcement may answer one or both of these rumors.

Stay tuned for a teaser of our set visit report with the premiere of the first Half-Blood Prince trailer and a full report with the release of the film in November. Videotaped interviews on the set include Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown), Bonnie Wright and producer David Barron.

    • Limited Prime Day deal sees Amazon Echo Show 11 is at its lowest price yet by Ivan Jenic The Amazon Echo Show 11 is currently $149.99 on Amazon during Prime Day, down from $219.99. That's 32% off and $70 saved on Amazon's newest mid-size smart display (purchase link below). As its name suggests, the Echo Show 11 features a 11” Full-HD touchscreen, which is a decent upgrade over the Echo Show 8. It offers 60% more viewing area, which makes a genuine difference for recipes, calendars, video calls, or any other scenario where the smaller display can feel a bit cramped. The Show 11 is built around Alexa+, Amazon's more capable AI assistant that can handle natural conversation. You can make reservations, order groceries, and find content based on your preferences, instead of always having to give it precise commands. There’s also the Omnisense technology, which adds ambient awareness, allowing the device to trigger routines based on temperature, presence detection, or visual cues. Smart home control is built in without needing a separate hub, and the home screen doubles as a photo slideshow when not in use. Taking all of this into account, the Show 11 is a perfect smart addition to your kitchen counter or living room. At $149.99, this is a strong Prime Day buy for anyone already in the Amazon ecosystem or looking to build one out.
