Ok now my network is a bit of messed up here it is how it looks....

1. An ADSL2 router (Huawei, SmartAX MT882) which connects me to the internet. (DHCP 192.1688.1.1)

2. An 8-port ethernet router (pluged in are ADSL2 router(1.), 20. A computer, 30. A wire which is connected to (3.)

3. A 4 port ethernet wirless router (U.S.Robotics, model 9108) the router is also the print server. (DHCP 192.168.2.1)

4. to this router (3.) my laptop is connected via WIFI and the internet runs pretty smooth.

5. to this router (3.) my printer is also connected (HP, Deskjet 3940)

now what I am having problem is that I can not access my 3. router by simply typing (192.168.2.1) this address leads me nowhere. and I for one have no clue what the IP of my 3. is now...

its like this if I disconect the cable which connects 2. to 3. I can access 3. with the above mentioned IP address but once i connect the wire it does not.

I tryed to connect my printer a lot but it didnt worked out...

I want to be able to use the printer with both my laptop (4.) and my computer (2.20.)

pretty confusing right ;)

hmm...

1- ADSL modem?

2- 8 port router with the uplink port connected to the ADSL modem

2.1- computer plugged into the 8 port router via ethernet

3- 4 port router with wireless plugged into the 8 port router

3.1- laptop connected via WiFi

3.2- ethernet capable printer connected to the 4 port router via ethernet

Can I suggest: just connecting the 4 port router (with WiFi) into the ADSL and losing the 8-port?

ADSL > 4 port / wifi

4port / wifi >

> ethernet to computer (in your description as 2.20)

> ethernet to print server

> wireless to your laptop.

Then FIX it... if I read it right your doing a triple nat??? Your kidding right?? Or are you just using the 8 port router as a switch? What port do you have the adsl router plugged into this router with?

If you want to use the ports on the 8 port router -- sure do so.. but it does not need to be natting.. Nor does your wireless router - it just needs to be a accesspoint.

Well come to think of it, the 8-port is not a router its a switch, i misunderstood the device

just wikied its a 8-port switch/hub...

I did not understood your second part

ok here is it like this

Phone line >>> adsl router (hawaii) >>> hub/switch >>> PC

>>> wireless adsl router with 4 ethernet ports (USR)

Ok now that i found out its a hub i think it dos not NAT right???

well yes it makes sense to make it an accesspoint (USR) and I tried to do what the article said in your link, but its like this that when I take out everything from WAN the LAN link dissapear and if I leave a dummy connection in the WAN the LAN link appears and I did disable DHCP and gave it an IP of 192.168.1.45 and it worked to...

but the problem was that I was not able to browse or do anything with the internet... although Vista said in its "networking and sharing center" that its online.... but coudnt browse :(

now to get online for the time being I restored default on the USR so the DHCP is now enable with the ip 192.168.1.1 and I can not access the USR router as when I typr this ip i get straight to Huwaii router :s

*EDIT*

network picture attached (windows is the USR wireless)

And did you update the gateway on the PC to point to the ADSL2 routers IP?? 192.168.1.1 ??

If you want to run dhcp on the wireless - then you need to tell it to point the dhcp clients to the adsl2 router.

Didnt follow you... how do i do that???

some thing didnt follow you here to... I want to disable dhcp on wireless....that is what I have done.

Ok -- if you disable the dhcp on the wireless router -- an plug your adsl2 router into this routers lan port.. Any wireless clients or wired clients to this router will get dhcp from the adsl2 router.

What IP address did you get on your vista machine? connected like this

adsl2 --- switch --- (lan port) USR router

What exactly do you not understand about the directions linked too? Please post the model number of this 8 port device.

The adsl2 router is 192.168.1.1 -- this is the gateway of the network. It also provides dhcp. Anything connected to the switch will get IP from its dhcp server.. Anything connected to an lan port on the USR will also get ip from it, since the dhcp server on the USR is OFF.. An you changed its IP address to 192.168.1.45

I assume your adsl router is handing out 192.168.1.100 to ??? as addresses.

Your vista machine should get a 192.168.1.10? address.. Can it ping the adsl2 router?

Ping 192.168.1.1

Please post the results of ipconfig /all from your vista machine once you have it connected..

You lost me on plugging something in to the WAN port of the USR.. If used as a access point - NOTHING should be plugged into its wan/internet port. You would connect a port on the switch to a lan port on the USR that is all.

I got this address 192.168.1.6

well I did understand the directions posted wheat I was not unable to do is empty WAN settings on USR ad not being able to do anything with LAN settings as they got dissapeard. well I dot know the model number of the 8-port hub, but I am sure it is working right and doing nothing to ip etc

yes it is happening like that the adsl (Huwaii) is providing the gateway and the DHCP, yes I assume the USR and everything is getting its IP from 1st ADSL.

well its hading out till 65

Well as I told b4 it has 6 , I am not sure if i can ping i will post about it tomarow when I goto my office.

nothing is plugged into the WAN port of the USR, I was saying that if I donot configure a WAN profile on USR the LAN link does not appear.

Yes I have connected a lan port from the 8-port hub to the USR LAN port....

I will post the ipconfig tomarow....

the problem is this tht from my laptop after doing all this I was able to access USR on 92.168.1.45 and HUWAII on 192.168.1.1 this meant I have done everything right, but the problem was that I was not able to link to the interet. I was able to access the PC from my laptop to... which is directly connecten from the 8-port hub and internet worked on the PC....

If you could ping/access your router on 192.168.1.1 but you could not access the internet I would assume you do not or have the wrong gateway set?? Or your 8 port devices is NOT a switch? Please post the model number of this device.

An when you thought you were connecting to the 192.168.1.1 device you were really connecting to the 8 ports device interface??

Please post the ipconfig of your vista machine.. if it has an IP address 192.168.1.6, mask would most likely be 255.255.255.0 and gateway should be 192.168.1.1 what does it show for dns?

Can you ping an IP address on the internet, say 4.2.2.2 from your vista machine?

first of its a Baylan 8-port 10/100M switch, product ID: BSR31326U8

no when I was connecting to 192.168.1.1 I connected to the primary adsl router (huwaii)

the ipconfig gave me this

and yes I was able to ping the ip 4.2.2.2 and also strangely the internet is working :)

*EDIT* print is working as well today :)....strange...

What I did today was reset the USR and did all the settings all over again...

So your good then ;) Everything works, you can print an access the internet.

Only thing I would suggest, is if your not going to be using IPv6 - you might want to disable it.

Disabling IPv6

Unlike Windows XP, IPv6 in Windows Vista cannot be uninstalled. To disable IPv6 on a specific connection, you can do the following:
