I'm a little confused with what the current release of the Vista version of AutoPatcher is.

On the AutoPatcher.com website:

  • Latest News indicates August is released but not Vista
  • Current Releases says July
  • Downloads show August (for Vista)

On the Forum:

  • AutoPatcher subforum shows a bar indicating August is nearly finished
  • AutoPatcher for Vista subforum shows a bar indicating May(!) is nearly finished

So is the download of the August Update for Vista the final or an interim version? I'm guessing it probably is. Perhaps a suitable suffix for the download such as Interim, Beta or RC would clarify things for those less in the know (like me!).

Thanks.

last month there was the july core release. up until now gandolas has only released new core releases (meaning you must removed the previous release each month, and replace it with the new one). this month gandolas chose to create an update release only, which you should apply to the july core release.

so, latest: jul07 core + aug07 update

not sure what you mean by 'current releases' but i'm working on a management system for the site, and when thats done and implemented, i plan on cleaning up the site.

the progress indicator in the forum is only an automated estimation. the month listed next to it is updated by neowin staff manually, sometimes it gets out of date.

i didn't notice that there were duplicates of the progress indicator in the subforums, i'll request that neowin update those too

Yes I understand that there are core releases but I was told that there is a problem with slipstreaming in Aug update and wondered if it would be fixed in that release or whether it would be fixed in a subsequent one.

On Autopatcher.com the left hand menu has a section called Current Releases and the different OSes are linked under this. Clicking on the link for Vista shows a page indicating July is the latest release hence my confusion. I guess the management system will make it easier to keep things up-to-date in various places.

Yes I only noticed this when going back to check the issues and seeing there were two different months!

OK Thank you.

the slipstreaming instructions were added to the Aug07 32-bit 2K/XP/3K3 releases, but won't be added to the Vista or 64-bit XP/2K3 releases till next month - i do the first lot and added them this time, gandolas does the other lot and didn't have time to add it this month, but will try to for next months releases.

yes, there seems to be a problem with getting slipstreaming to actully work. raptor (the project developer) is going to look into it.

oh, that, yes, it's a little out of date now, the XP one for example hasn;t been updated since february. when the new management system is done, those links will either go altogether, or will link to part of the management system in order to retrieve the latest info.

    • The original word arts were far more awesome! With their own preconfigured fill patterns, 3D layout, etc, with options to fine-tune their size and colors as desired. I especially loved the ones circled below and still miss them from my primary school years: I frankly use them less these days 'cause the new one isn't as straightforward fine art as what we originally had, taking time and effort to get back to the same graphics quality as the original offered, which I simply don't have enough of for merely fine-tuning my presentation titles. Same with the built-in picarts selection. Bring back the original pre-configured options for word art then I'll be using them far more frequently in my presentations even today.
    • What didn't you understand about that was mainly referring to Google, Microsoft, etc. keeping your passwords. Password Management is a key service of Bitwarden and it's not going anywhere. In any case they do offer export to other Password management services, backup/download of passwords, and the already mentioned on-prem option. I don't agree with the OP to use the free option as it's better to be an actual customer IMO. They don't just don't delete accounts like the big tech companies with no recourse which was the main concern of this article. I was confused if the author was trying to sell this setup? It should be obvious to anyone reading this article this solution is overly complicated and overkill for most users.
    • I got this notification just now in Android: So I went in to disable the "Other" or "Marketing" notifications in Notifications management: But it came through the Now Playing? So if I disable that I no longer get what's Now Playing in Notifications? I'm a paying subscriber, not on the free plan... can they sink any lower?
