After Ive installed java runtime s2 I hit the "webstart"
My computer blue screens me, then restarts and starts disk check. disk check fixes many many problems then reboots. when its rebooted, I dont see "webstart" on my desktop or anywhere.
Any one else have this problem ( its not the first time ive had this )
I am runnin a comp with an amd prossesor, is this a problem?
Linux is quite a broad statement, there are hundreds of distros some offer support and many come as is.
I had issues with OpenStack and their support, they had code from a 3-rd party contributor, fixing it was not an easy thing or a fast one
Bottom line is, going open source has only one major benefit - you are not vendor locked in, but it has plenty of downsides, in my experience.
In my experience, public employees use the minimum applications, such as a document editor, a spreadsheet, an email application, and occasionally a presentation application.
The Linux ecosystem is more than enough for those jobs.
The migration from Windows to Linux could involve a serious cost; however, Microsoft has been stagnant for a decade (especially for corporate-level applications), so it makes sense to migrate to Linux, i.e. it is an "evolve or die" situation.
