Custom Boot Screen Problems

I'm trying to change my boot screen for my computer. I'm following a pretty good guide, (This one) but i can't seem to get it to work.

I can get the bitmap from reshack, but it just appears to be black. I can not import any other bitmaps into reshack, because it gives me all sorts of errors, ending with memory locations. (I assume this is because it is a different file from the one that was there originally.)

I try to edit the file that i got from reshack (the original boot screen), but it just appears to be black space, and i can't see any edits that i make.

EDIT:

Nevermind, i finally found out how do to it. (I had to go in and manually import the pallet.)
