?20-inch? and ?notebook? are two words that should probably be never used together in a single sentence. This computer gives new meaning to ?the straw that broke the camel?s back?, but on the bright side, the camel can enjoy a feast of entertainment choices on this somewhat portable powerhouse.

A HP PR representative sent me an email asking if I was interesting in participating in a bloggers program to test drive Hewlett-Packard?s new Pavilion HDX9000 Series entertainment notebook PC, otherwise known as the ?Dragon?. Being a sucker for freebies I gladly accepted. And today it arrived.

Disclaimer: This notebook is on-loan from HP for purpose of this review, playing games, watching movies, smudging and weight lifting. For that reason, my judgment on how awesome it is may be impaired. However, trust me on one thing, it doesn?t make it any You can find the full review on my blog. on my blog.[/url] It's all:)n a single page too :)

Huge notebook, a desktop replacement... Using 5400rpm HDD and a Radeon 2600... With only 1680x1050 on a 20.1 widescreen....

Since it's a desktop replacement that will be moved "sometimes", my guess is that battery life is not that important. They should have put 7200rpm drive and a better video card. Lets not forget that nothing is upgradeable on this thing...

Thanks for mentioning the battery life, I forgot about that entirely. I added a few words about the battery, but basically it serves as a nice UPS.

I agree with you that they should have opted for a faster hard disk.

Though I must say its rather a copy of the XPS M2010 in terms of design [though the XPS does seem to be a bit cooler in terms of functionality]

Now that you mention it, yeah...The HDX does look a lot like the XPS M2010...

I like the optical drive in the XPS! And it looks way better!

    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/
    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
