Add flac to itunes?

Thanks dudes, Quillz, I have seen that but it seems to have some problems so im weary of using it, apparantly now after reading some stuff, it is impossible to properly import flac into itunes because of the way its designed or something apple themselves have to do it and theres a petition and stuff for it.

i really would prefer to have it all in my itunes library, but right now im just using VLC to play it.

Any good resources for iTunes plug-ins. I'm convinced I'm missing out on some neat stuff. The Apple.com/downloads page has an iTunes section. But its poorly organized and no sub-categories. When I used winamp (yes, I'm a heathen for say this in Mac forms!), Winamp's site has lists of plug-ins, sorted by rating and type. Anything like it for iTunes?

I used Toast 8 to make images of all the FLAC CDs I own > Mounted the disc images with Toast 8 > Imported them with iTunes like you would with a normal CD. Works like a charm. Just make sure to set the "Pause" between tracks to zero seconds before creating the disc image:

You can set the importing format in iTunes by going to Preferences > Advanced > Importing.

Apple Lossless is quality wise just as good as any lossless format (FLAC, WAV, AIFF etc.). The plus side over FLAC is that iTunes and QuickTime can play it by default.

that didnt seem to work for me itunes just saw it as one file for some reason, so instead i went to the audio CD tab on left and dragged an album in then exported them as apple lossless files.

Yes you need to use the Audio CD function, not data.

Or you could use xACT which just simply converts FLAC to .wav or .aiff

Yes I had this same problem recently too, I used the first google result for a free converter if I'm honest as I didn't care particularly about the quality of the files and it worked.

I tried flux or flax? The 'plugin' for itunes, all it did was crashed so I removed it.

Did you guys know that there is a Mac version of Winamp?! I certainly did not know until I came across it last week-end. I do not even recall how it happened. Perhaps that could be of a fit for you guys who need FLAC support?

Interesting. There was a linux version of winamp many years ago too... That failed unfortunately.

I use dbPowerAmp free edition to convert batches of flac to Apple Lossless for iTunes. It's trivially easy, and can even convert the apple files back to flac and compare with originals to confirm that nothing has been lost of corrupted in the process. Strongly recommended (I have no connection with this product or any company connected with it!)

Question is whether all the plugins that are available for the Window's version will work with the Mac version.

Nope they won't, they'd need porting over to mac and objective c or whatnot and recompiled.

The Winamp for Mac was just an interface to use Android devices, wasn't it? I recall it never being a full version of Winamp and I don't believe it was planned to ever be one.
