Crysis official demo delayed :(

Recommended Posts

US, September 21, 2007 - The single-player demo for Crysis, the upcoming first-person shooter from Crytek, has been pushed back a month, the Frankfurt, Germany-based developer and publisher EA said Friday.

Originally slated for a Sept. 25 release, the demo is now set for Oct. 26 and will come bundled with the CryEngine 2 - Sandbox 2 game editor, the company said.

"We are taking some extra time to make sure you that you have an amazing experience but also we did not want to risk the release date of Crysis at this stage. To get the game into your hands by November the 16th, we had to make this call," said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli. "This is an exciting time for us at the studio as the development of Crysis comes to an end and we are only a few weeks from Gold Master."

Set in 2019 after an asteroid crashes to Earth, Crysis takes place during a tense military standoff between the North Korean and United States governments for control of the impact zone.

Yerli called the inclusion of the CryEngine level editor a "big surprise" for gamers and something the company has planned to do for the Crytek gaming community for some time.

how ****ing ridiculous! that's like bungie saying "hold up you guys, halo 3 actually isnt going on sale til november"

Not really seeing as that would be pushing back the full game, and with this they are only delaying the demo (at present).

3 days til release of the thing... pfft

what the hell? The delay of a demo is totally different to delaying the full game.

I'd much rather Crytech delayed the demo to get the retail game out on time, rather than keep the demo on time, but have to delay the final game.

    • BS, I've yet to run into a typical pc user that uses it at all, let alone half the population.

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
