Oh noes!!! I went out an bought Bioshock two days ago because this pole favored it over Halo, but now Halo is the favorite!

Guess I'll have to go out and buy Halo 3 now :p.

My impressions of Bioshock: I haven't made it very far at all, but so far I like it. It has a very creepy bizarre yet somehow nostalgic atmosphere that is definitely something unique and I've never seen before in a video game. So far I think that the game moves kinda slow and is actually very hard at the medium difficulty setting.

If Halo 3 is anything like Halo 1 or 2, then it probably has a more "arcade shooter" style to it. Like you are up against a LOT of guys and have a ton of ammo and everything is real intense.... while Bioshock is more spooky with guys jumping out at you from the corner and you only have 2 bullets in your pistol so you can't be so spooked that you miss.

Alas, I will just have to go out and get Halo 3 :D.

If Halo 3 Single Player is anything like Halo 2, Bioshock gets my vote and wins hands down. I bought Halo 2 for my original Xbox and got bored right away with it in the very beginning. I then made the mistake of purchasing it for my PC when it came out thinking I might somehow enjoy it this time around, but nope it was as boring as ever and I couldn't gain any interest in it, haven't played it again since I got it around June. Yes Halo is just that bad of a game, extremely hyped and overrated without merit.

Bioshock as well as Prey were some of the many games I have played which I got immersed in and could not stop playing. About a week ago, I stayed up almost the entire night playing Bioshock. When I looked at the time it was 4am in the morning.

Bioshock gets my Vote although I am only playing it on the absolute lowest graphics settings seeing as my PC is not able to handle anything more and has fairly older hardware. I can't wait to play Bioshock as well as my many other games when I finally build a new PC and can enjoy the full experience cranked up on the highest settings.

But hey, whatever you prefer I guess. :p

Have both, love them both. .. Halo 3 gets the nod for excellent multiplayer, replayability, and overall package. . but Bioshock has a much better single player experience (story is fantastic, but once you get through it, there is little long term replay value)

They are very close in terms of campaign. Bioshock had alot of scripted things in it's campaign and no original mechanics. Most of it was copy cat stuff with a good story and art coating it. I wasn't really impressed when I beat Bioshock almost completely the hard way in 8 hours on medium difficulty. I do acknowledge the depth of the story, but all these choices really boil down to one of them... harvest or save.

Halo 3 has many non-linear levels, wide open environments as well as alot of things going on at the same time, and even wonderful AI. The campaign is very replayable with the skulls and terminals as well as the meta game (remember that MP isn't the only thing Halo has going for it now). The meta game provides a fun challenge for people who only have a couple friends and no Live access. While the story isn't as incredibly innovative as Bioshocks, Halo makes up for it in the beauty of its graphics and sheer scale of what you see and the weapons you use.

Personally, Halo 3 is the winner. Bioshock is a two time through game and your done where Halo 3, even without the incredible multiplayer, is still a far more robust experience. I almost forgot the replay feature works in campaign as well as the screenshot feature. You don't need Live to enjoy that stuff.

Well I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I ordered H3, mostly because of the multiplayer.

But Bioshock really didn't impress me, neither with graphics gamepla or the so called story, though I only played the demo, but nothing in the demo intrigued me to want to play the full game.

And Halo 3 got multiplayer.

"so called story" and you didn't even play the full game? Please.. please.. say you are joking.

Bought Halo 3 today and I think Bioshock is better in everyway (except multiplayer). Graphics are good but not awsome as BioShock!

Another think... the Halo monsters... oh well. At least they got rid of those stupid monster voices from Halo 1.

Halo 3 is more of the same. Bioshock, a completely new game!

i have no idea, but I assume Halo3+BS=madness at its best ;)

(oh and maybe a lil bit Kill Zone 2... but... that's some totally different kind of shooter...)

    • Apart from Early Hiccups on Windows 11 on first install on October 6th 2021 on my old Intel 10700 daily use Desktop PC at the time, used to have issue with Bluetooth suddenly no longer working and only fix back then was always another clean install--then would work for a while. Transition to 2024 when i decided to finally upgrade that system for better support for Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 later on, opted for next daily use Gaming Desktop AMD Ryzen 7 7700X and Radeon 7800XT OC 16GB. No major problems at all with this desktop, OS was clean installed way back on 10/8/2025 not long after 25H2 released. Overall i've been happy with Windows 11 Pro from the start, even minor little quirks didn't sway me. Heck i even use Windows 8 and upgraded immediately upon release back then on my old HP P6-2133W Desktop, and while the specs of that machine didn't give me top notch performance--i still was able to do what i wanted to, without too many slowdowns. Windows ME i didn't use on any of my personal systems back in the day, kept those systems on 98SE til XP released, and grabbed that immediately on release date. Kept XP til Vista Released then upgraded immediately, kept Vista til Windows 7 released, then updated immediately again
    • Broadcom: dreadful company who is destroying VMware by pricing it out of the market.
    • To be fair, it wasn't going anywhere. Even when Windows Phone could run Android APKs, Google didn't want any of it so it'd never work and the same thing happened with Windows. It was never about the store or it's users, it was always the developers and who they aligned to.
    • Wake me up when this comes to PC. Until then... zzzzzzzz....
