I just reformatted (had 64 bit of Ultimate) back to 32 bit. Now I can't get Windows Updates. I get Error(s) found: 800700DB. It's funny because I downloaded the Reliability and Performance updates, along with a few others manually and they did fine.

I've tried everything (googled), like renaming SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistribution.old (even though it wouldn't let me, even after I gave my self permission).

Here's what's in my Report Event Log (in the SoftwareDistribution folder):

I've installed the MSXML 4.0 SP 2 Parser and SDK. Nothing.

Only site that's "helpful" is this XP site http://www.updatexp.com/800C0008.html

Please does anyone have a clue on what is causing it and how to fix it?

Thanks!

I put it on Automactic Update and everything updated fine. The one that will not is Update 7.0.6000.381, an update TO Windows Update.

Windows Update software 7.0.6000.381

Installation date: ‎10/‎6/‎2007 7:57 AM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800700D8

Update type: Important

the correct command is

fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

if you run it without true you get the following msg

C:\Windows\system32>fsutil resource setautoreset c:\

Usage : fsutil resource setautoreset true <Default RM Root pathname>

fsutil resource setautoreset false <Default RM Root pathname>

Eg : fsutil resource setautoreset true d:\

Ok about to reboot. Also, I found the cab files (3 RAR files with cab files and stuff) online for WUS 7.0 and put them in the

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate

That's where I see wsus3setup.rar. Wrong folder?

Like I said it's receiving updates via Auto (hotfixes, etc, but not Ultimate Extras!) but doing it manually I get that (and in the auto it also fails to install 7.0.

I'm not reformatting again. That was my first time ever doing it. Do you think that I went to 32 bit to 64 bit back to 32 bit, causes the problem? I was having BSOD and computer lock ups but, that went away when I installed some drivers (Nforce). I had to install those in safe mode, because it would BSOD me in regular mode.

NOPE that didn't work.

Thanks for the help but I get this when I run it:

post-108961-1192161597.png

I've enven tried to maunally update to WUS 3.0 since that's what it fails at, but then running the update again it gives me the 800700db

Try this:

Start --> Run --> cmd

a. proxycfg -d

b. net stop wuauserv

c. net start wuauserv

d. exit

Yes I've tried that (as the Tech told me).

Here's what I've tried per the Tech and nothing worked.

Dear Mike,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Windows Update Support. My name is Mike and I am glad to work with you. You can contact me directly by writing an email to [email protected] with the case ID SRX1046798555 in the subject line.

First, I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to your support request. Please be assured that you have successfully contacted the correct support team and I will be working with you to address your concerns as quickly as possible.

From the description, I understand that Windows Update failed to install Windows Update Software 7.0.6000.381, the error code 8007000b was received. The command fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\ had been performed, but the issue persists. If I have misunderstood your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know. I understand the inconvenience this may have caused. Please be assured that we will work together to resolve this specific issue through the course of the case.

This issue can be caused by the following factors:

1. The Windows Update service has been stopped.

2. Corrupted Windows Update Temporary folder.

In order to narrow down the cause of this issue and resolve it, please refer to the following steps. After finishing each step, please check the result again on the Windows Update website.

NOTE: Some third party programs can affect the Windows Update service. If you are running any third party applications such as Spyblocker, Internet or web accelerators (programs designed to boost the speed of the Internet connection), security or anti-virus programs (Norton, McAfee, etc.), I recommend we temporarily disable or shut them down and then try accessing Windows Update later. Please understand that we are disabling these programs only for the purpose of troubleshooting and we can re-enable these programs after we finish troubleshooting.

Step 1: Verify the relevant Windows Update services

=======================================

1. Click the Start Button, in Start Search box, type: "services.msc" (without quotes) and press Enter. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2. Double click the service "Windows Update".

3. Click on the "General" tab; make sure the "Startup Type" is "Automatic" or "Manual". Then please click the "Start" button under "Service Status" to start the service.

4. Please repeat the above steps with the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" service.

You can also temporarily stop these services, restart the computer, and then start these services again. If any service is missing or cannot be stopped or restarted, please let me know.

Step 2: Rename the Windows Update Softwaredistribution folder

================================================

This problem may occur if the Windows Update Software distribution folder has been corrupted. We can refer to the following steps to rename this folder. Please note that the folder will be re-created the next time we visit the Windows Update site.

1. Close all the open windows.

2. Click the Start Button, click "All programs", and click "Accessories".

3. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator".

4. In "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type in "net stop WuAuServ" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Note: Please look at the cmd window and make sure it says that it was successfully stopped before we try to rename the folder. However, if it fails, please let me know before performing any further steps and include any error messages you may have received when it failed.

5. Click the Start Button, in the "Start Search" box, type in "%windir%" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

6. In the opened folder, look for the folder named "SoftwareDistribution".

7. Right-click on the folder, select Rename and type "SDold" (without the quotes) to rename this folder.

8. While still in the "Administrator: Command Prompt" window, type the command "net start WuAuServ" (without the quotes) in the opened window to restart the Windows Updates service.

Note: Please look at the cmd window and make sure it says that it was successfully started. However, if it failed, please let me know before performing any further steps and include any error messages you may have received when it failed.

If the issue persists, to clarify the issue and provide more accurate troubleshooting steps, please assist me in collecting the following information.

After clicking this button/icon you must browse to the file you wish to attach and select it by either double clicking it or clicking it once and then clicking on the "Attach" button.

Please try my suggestion and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I am standing by for your response.

Best Regards,

Mike Qu

Bump.

They couldn't help me. They told me to put the Vista disk in and do an upgrade to replace system files, but it kept saying that a system compontment was missing and it reverted it back. He said he was gonna get the Vista Tech Support on my case, uhh that's been a week ago.

Think I'v fcked it up when I "downgraded" 64 bit back to 32 bit. Oh welll..........

The main feature is lossless trimming and cutting of video and audio files, which is great for saving space by rough-cutting your large video files taken from a video camera, GoPro, drone, etc. It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data without doing a slow re-encode and thereby losing quality. Or you can add a music or subtitle track to your video without needing to encode. Everything is extremely fast because it does an almost direct data copy, fueled by the awesome FFmpeg which does all the grunt work. Features Lossless cutting of most video and audio formats Losslessly cut out parts of video/audio (for cutting away commercials etc.) Losslessly rearrange the order of video/audio segments Lossless merge/concatenation of arbitrary files (with identical codecs parameters, e.g. from the same camera) Lossless stream editing: Combine arbitrary tracks from multiple files (ex. add music or subtitle track to a video file) Losslessly extract all tracks from a file (extract video, audio, subtitle, attachments and other tracks from one file into separate files) Batch view for fast multi-file workflow Remux into any compatible output format Take full-resolution snapshots from videos in JPEG/PNG format Manual input of cutpoint times Apply a per-file timecode offset (and auto load timecode from file) Change rotation/orientation metadata in videos View technical data about all streams Timeline zoom and frame/keyframe jumping for accurate cutting around keyframes Saves per project cut segments to project file View FFmpeg last command log so you can modify and re-run recent commands on the command line Undo/redo Give labels to cut segments View segment details, export/import cut segments as CSV Import segments from: MP4/MKV chapters, Text file, YouTube, CSV, CUE, XML (DaVinci, Final Cut Pro) Video thumbnails and audio waveform Edit file metadata and per-stream metadata Edit per-stream disposition Cut with chapter marks Annotate segments with tags View subtitles Example lossless use cases Cut out commercials from a recorded TV show (and re-format from TS to MP4) Remove audio tracks from a file Extract music track from a video and cut it to your needs Add music to a video (or replace existing audio track) Combine audio and video tracks from separate recordings Include an external subtitle into a video Quickly change a H264/H265 MKV video to MOV or MP4 for playback on iPhone Import a list of cut times from other tool as a EDL (edit decision list, CSV) and run these cuts with LosslessCut Export a list of cut times as a CSV EDL and process these in another tool Quickly cut a file by its MP4/MKV chapters Quickly cut a YouTube video by its chapters (or music times from a comment) Change the language of a file's audio/subtitle tracks Attach cover art to videos Change author, title, GPS position, recording time of a video Fix rotation of a video that has the wrong orientation flag set Great for rotating phone videos that come out the wrong way without actually re-encoding the video.
