I absolutely loved it. I feel really - not sure - muted? Sort of numb and not sure what to think...

Harbinger of death? Howso?

Who/what is "god" (intentional lower case, as it's not God)?

Caprica looked awesome (the night shots). Will the new series be a series or a one-off (as it's already on DVD)?

Why were there old-style cylons and raiders? What's the significance?

But I adored watching it, and the ride was awesome over the last 6 years. I do hope we get a little more closure in "The Plan"...

So a movie based on a series based on a miniseries based on series based on a miniseries based on a TV movie?

Battlestar Galactica (original movie)

Battlestar Galactica: Saga Of A Star World (miniseries)

Battlestar Galactica (original series)

Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined miniseries)

Battlestar Galactica (re-imagined series)

Battlestar Galactica (this thing on IMDB)

That's a George Lucas level of milking a cash cow ;)

Difference being, the original series made a mockery out of a somewhat decent pilot (movie) and 1980 was just plain crap. Ron Moore made the title respectable just to toss it back to it's originator, who currently pens for the reimagined Knight Rider (expect quality), so if it's even comparable to the cash cow that is Star Wars then this is likely to be the Clone Wars of the series.

Can't wait for The Plan, if it's going to be good or not.

I believe the old-style cylons were just respect to the old show, just like how they played the music. Nothing important about it.

I always wanted to pick up the original series, since I am such a big fan of this one. But every person I talk to, and everything I read, I know I will not like it, probably not at all. And if it does make a mockery, I might even hate it lol.

I liked it as a whole, and I loved some parts of it, but the finale was by no means perfect.

I thought Kara's story was wrapped up pretty well, and didn't need further explanation. 'She' was brought back for a purpose, and when that purpose was reached, she disappeared.

I found it a bit hard to believe that all the survivors would just agree to give up technology and revert to a primitive lifestyle. Then again, maybe they were so fed up with everything, they just wanted to put everything behind them and probably forget it.

It's strange though, I didn't feel quite as sad as I thought I'd feel for the end of the show. No "Damn, there's no more of it", which usually happens after the finales of shows I've really invested time in. Angel, Now & Again, TNG, Andromeda (pure crap as it was in its final years), The Pretender, etc.

Exactly how I feel and by it is the best finale possible, a finale that didn't leave us asking for more, a finale that wrapped the story, like the final page of a really good book.

The god aspect that they taken is interesting, because:

1. Angel Caprica used mathematics to explain her prediction that this time things will end up different.

2. Angel Gaius says he doesn't like to be called that...

As if what we really dealing with is something older but not exactly omnipotent, at least that is how BSG wants us to see it.

As for older centurions, it been 30-50 years since the last war, so I guess some of the older centurions are still around.

I am not a fan of the original series. The premise was good but bady portrayed.

A bunch of colonies wiped out and yet every time they found a new planet, all they wanted to do was party...

As I've said ever since the cylon God came up in the show.

Their one true god is most likely a mainframe, able to "speak" and influence cylons directly, probably a remnant from the very first cylons when they weren't autonomous. Somewhere along the way and over the wars it was forgotten and left alone, a self aware AI mainframe, hooked up to all cylons through an ancient remnant from the first cylons, and piece of technology that was never removed. And as the cylons started evolving and creating themselves, he/it could make sure the control circuit staid in place. and he had cylons that maintained him and upgraded him as well. and over time he may have evolved/upgraded into being able to "talk" to some humans as well (baltar).

And he/it would have been able o make Kara and all that crap. And by not revealing this, but leaving only clues of the existence of this mainframe. They conveniently leave open a door for a future follow up series, set after earth recreates Space travel and FTL and even "cylons". And when they may end up facing this "being" in some way or other. While it wasn't a mainframe in the original series, it also ties into the original series who I believe also had a creator/controller of the cylons, though he was "human" or something.

Either was I was disappointed with the ending. it was clich? and predictable. With as much unpredictable stuff the show had done before. I was genuinely hoping they weren't going to go with the clich? ending it was obvious they where going for... but I guess not having a plan past the first season just caught up to them, well it did that quite a while back, but I guess they just never recovered from not having a plan and just making **** up all along the way without a clear goal at the end.

I wonder if they'll ever do something with the Cylons they gave the base ship too and left 150k years ago. Ron Moore said in that interview his version doesn't really leave itself open to a movie, but I can see Scifi milking that option.

Well, since most people here seem to have liked it.. lets go with something different.

I think Moore lost it, the finale had some many wtf moments that it just felt they but it together in a few minutes. Enormous plot holes and silly twists that you could see coming a mile away, this show should have been put out of misery seasons ago when it was still awesome..

That's precisely how I felt. And that's what made me love it even more. The feeling of closure. At the same time, it makes you think back to all the theories that cropped up, all the explanations people gave in this thread, etc.

I agree in that it's quite interesting. But I believe that it's more powerful than we may think. I think it has been around much longer. I'm talking long enough to somehow influence the evolution of humans on another planet which takes millions and millions of years. Perhaps it's a highly intelligent and advanced alien AI that has been made by a long extinct alien civilization. Perhaps it has grown and evolved over the eons and somehow learnt or developed the ability to exert varying degrees of control over the universe. Yes, I know. It's a crazy theory but who knows, I could be right.

What do you mean by not having a plan? obviously they had a plan and they knew when to end the show. i feel that they could have made another two seasons, which would have personally made me happy, but i feel it ended at the right time. the last few episodes made it feel like end is near....

Actually they didn't even know when to end the show, at first they had no plan, then they "decided" on 5 seasons, then they realized they where out of ideas and couldn't make up enough material for a fifth season if their life depended on it, so they went with 4 seasons.

oh and knowing that at some time at the end of the show, the fleet ends up at earth, that's not a plan.

not to let nickpickers spread there negativety in here, i'll for a change not keep quiet.

for me this was a just a brilliant.. and yes even the corny bit with the robots at the end gave me a little smile.

i've enjoyed this show from start to finish.. did i like every single episode.. no.. but im not going to let one bad show spoil the series for me. if i want nice clean happy with the global reset button, then i'll watch SG1, SGA, TNG.

BSG will live for me withthe other greats like, Farscape, Babylon 5 (1 to 4), DS9 these dared to challenge and push the viewers that were watching.. so 3 cheers to you RM and i look forward to more from you.

Some moan about the old centurians and blah blah.. but why can't you just see that as a little nod to the original series, who cares if someone in here can remember some throw away line that said these model were all terminated or whatever.

Also i believe if RM came here and said you know what you the biggest critic here, we can't please you so here's 5 pages write whatever and we'll make it.. you just simple come back here and say blah blah he only gave me 5 pages. :(

and @Hawkman.. sorry to pick on you but you're on this page, thank the Stars RM didn't give you the 5pages if thats what you can come up with then piff and you moan the ending was bad..

anyway.. great show, love it.. now we'll just have to make do with SGU or FlashGordon (if it comes back) im sure that will make some of you very happy.

A sequel to the series would be badass:

Now that 160,000 years has passed, the freed centurions come back for revenge after having developed to more advanced versions with resurection again. Cavil has been downloaded into a regular Centurion and is leading the assualt on the new earth. Remains of Tigh are activated to help combat the situation. New characters take on the names of Adama, Boomer, Starbuck and Apollo, and a new battlestar Galactica is launched. The Voyage for for a new home is underway...Kobal anyone?

Except Moore said the remaining humanoid Cylons near the black hole are all dead. We were supposed to have seen it, instead he opted for long, drawn out scenes for the last 30 minutes or so.

Talk had been that the televised version would obviously be cut for time but that supposedly the DVD version of the finale will clock in at 3-3.5 hours so I'm sure there are lots of extra tidbits that will explain some of this stuff if the rumor is accurate.

Aside from the cylons at the blackhole colony, we had been led to believe that the humaniod models had claimed and partially restored the original 12 colonies for themselves in the previous seasons. I didn't like the lack of resolution or ability to find a truce and unified path between the remaining models, and Cavil turning his gun on himself was out of character for all that we knew about his desire for more life. Cavil's pursuit almost seems to pay homage to Roy Batty but I may be stretching it there - "More life, father."

If you can't appreciate the message that our earth is a beautiful, wondrous place that we must respect and protect.... well ?I don't want to be your neighbor:pp

    • In that case this product has no value to me. I'd rather use older Creative SB that were better in my opinion or onboard audio chip.
