Neowin Community Game Awards 2007 Nominations

Recommended Posts

After missing a year, Blackice912 managed to convince me to pick up the Neowin Community Game Awards with him again. This time around, we're much more prepared and DirtyLarry has graciously accepted my invitation to help out with graphics, so everything will look so much better. Blackice912 is responsible for the very cool coding work and DirtyLarry is responsible for the absolutely stunning logo and, eventually, the trophy graphic.

To get to the point...

This is the time where everyone is asked to submit one nomination per category. Please realize that this is only a nomination and not a final vote. We will gather nominations for two weeks and then tally the results. The top 5 nominated games in each category will then proceed to the voting round where the winners will be chosen over a two week voting period. Please note that the script uses your Neowin account to identify you and each member may only submit one series of nominations.

In 2005, we started the Neowin Community Game Awards. Unlike other "Best of Year" awards, every step of the process is voted on by the members. From the initial nominations to the final voting, you, the people who play the games, get to voice your opinions on which titles truly stood out from the rest. The NCGA's are the epitome of a "for the fans, by the fans" award.

The time has arrived, finally, for us to pick up where we left off two years ago (we missed a beat in 2006). The nomination round is now upon us. In this round, all members are asked to visit the nomination page and submit their choices for "Best of" in each category. Not a member, but want to contribute? All you have to do is register! This round will continue until October 29th, at which point nominations will be closed and the results tallied. The five most nominated games in each category will then proceed to the final voting round where they'll duke it out for the crown.

Please only nominate games you truly feel deserve the recognition released between October '06 and October '07. You can fill in as many or few of the categories as you like. Blank fields will be accepted as a null nomination.

There's only one thing left to do. Let's get nominating:

Also as a heads up: If you were one of the members who voted during the first day before we added the puzzle category, please visit the nominations site again to be given the chance at nominating your favorite puzzle game! :)

  • 2 weeks later...

We had about 265 submissions, though it may have been a little more. I know it's nothing super amazing, but I never intended this to be a HUGE industry changing event. Final voting should begin in a day or two.

That's pretty good. I was worried by the replies in this thread we were going to see about 10 to 20 voters  I can't remember who it was, but a member and I were just talking about it in June or something. Glad to see the feature back finally :)

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • For the purpose that it was built for, it’s a great machine. It’s okay to own multiple machines, it’s okay for machines to be different. If every computer was the same, they’d be boring af.
    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.
