Installing Multiple Antivirus Programs

I currently have Norton IS 2008 installed on my Windows Vista machine.

I was thinking about adding another AV program (such as BitDefender or Kaspersky). I was wondering if I can I have multiple AV programs installed on my machinge?

I mean I know that who can't have multiple ones running in the background at the same time, but I was wondering if installing multiple AV programs creates unnecessary conflicts with a system.

Having 2 anti-virus program installed at the same time means they usually interfere with each other. It'd just be a good idea to get 1 good anti-virus instead of having 2 not so good ones.

use just one antivirus - even after disabling norton from the tray/control center it still runs IN BACKGROUND

use either Kaspersky or NOD32 - both are good, NOD32 uses a little less resources.

You do not need to run 2 anti viruses. For one get rid of system hog Norton and go with a good free anti virus such as Avast. or if you must pay get NOD32.
