Noveed
are you sure you bought it brand new and not just reboxed? if it was previously used then sony might not help youi would take it back to blockbuster and go get a for sure new one at like best buy I'd hold back on the PS3 and take it back to be honest. First time something fails isn't a good sign, taking it back would be the best option in my honest opinion. You could buy it online. :) Anyways, it's your choice. Hope it all works out for you. no worries im giving blockbuster a call first then in the mornin Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/594150-help-ps3-just-died/page/2/#findComment-588923037 Share on other sites
megadima
no worries im giving blockbuster a call first then in the mornin You should definitely just return it and either get your money back or get a replacement. SonComet
My first PS3 would randomly show a blank screen (ie. lock up during boot) while booting the first week I got it. So I exchanged it for a new one while I was within my 30 days and bought the replacement plan for it. I also am on my second Wii due to the internal flash memory going bad on the first one. Still on my first 360 but it's still pretty new. So you're not alone, just one of the unlucky few. SnowRanger13
turn the PS3 off then hold down the on button on the PS3 for 10 seconds, this will reset the video settings. Hope that helps. Hope that helps. tried it last night and it did not do anything. Gave the PS3 to my dad this morning and he went and got it changed, seems they sent him to a different branch which again only had 1 left in stock, they were happy to exchange it, took a while as they had to test it in store first but what the hell i have a new one now :) so far so good! WooSH
yeah my PS3 was really hot and loud, so when i exchanged it and went home, i found out that it didnt have the same packaging as the old PS3, the packages were 'taped' with some kind of yellow tape, while the original was sealed in a bag. also the manuels and the controller did not have a bag. so i was ****ed that CC didnt give me a new one. also i had a funny feeling when they did this, because the customer support lady pulled one from under neath her counter rather than getting one from the back wall were all of them were displayed so you would know exactly how many they had without asking them. so, i decided to keep it since it worked, and if i complained i might get something with even more problems. what do you think i shouldve done? Demersynth
We've had several 40gb PS3's come back with disc reading errors and also the same errors you are experiencing. This was on the launch day and the day after! Sent them back to Sony but they never let us in on what was the reasons behind the faults...
