Guitar Hero 3 Demo

Recommended Posts

Downloaded and played it using my Wireless 360 controller. Was hard at first not knowing which buttons to use, but I eventually figured it out. I have never played it before and I am looking forward to this coming out.

I've only played Guitar Hero once and I blew at it and I played this demo with the wireless controller as well and it was pretty good. I tried Expert and was 3 seconds into the song and lost.

The buttons for the wireless control are:

Left Button = Green

Left Bumper = Red

Right Button = Blue

Right Bumper = Yellow (i think)

A = Orange

Whammy Bar = Right or Left Thumbstick going upwards.

I've played guitar hero 2 enough with a regular controller to the point where, for a controller, i thought i was pretty frickin good, the only 2 songs i couldnt beat were misirlou (my fingers just cant go that fast) and jordan (obvious reasons).. but then i got the guitar controller and have since beat said songs.. also its a lot more fun, its funny to see theres a achievement in gh3 for beating career with a regular controller

Christ it's harder than GHII and at ?40 (same price as your usual games) I'm not interested in buying it.

harder? i thought it was much easier, the window for hitting buttons is much larger, they had to do that so it was actually possible to beat some songs *cough* through the fire and the flames *cough*

What's wrong with it being harder? You can get it online cheaper too I think.

Nothing, but at least I found GHII approachable. GHIII difficulty, to anyone new to the series, is akin to running in to a wall. I was never very good but Normal was... attemptable!

I know you can get it cheaper online but not by much (?37 shopto). I may have to say there is simply too many better games to pick up in the next few months and with christmas looming over me like the sword of damaclese I need to keep the cash in my pocket.:pp

Haha fair enough. I'm pretty pants at GH2 as well. I can manage all the songs on Hard, I just don't get high scores on them. GH3 looks to be amazing though with the track list. I'll be buying it solus though, don't need the wireless guitar :)

I didn't know you were into guitar hero Magik. Are you buying or renting the final game?

Yea, I love Guitar Hero, lots of fun to play. I downloaded Frets on Fire for the PC and that was good enough to hold me over until GHIII is released (I didn't buy GHII because I knew GHIII would be much better and I played GHII on the PS2 a lot anyway).

I'm still trying to decide between Guitar Hero III and Rock Band, however. The drums seem like they'll be a lot of fun, but it is a lot more expensive, so I dunno. :)

So i put gh3.iso on a disk and popped it in but I get nothing under the demos and more part.. It just tells me its a Mixed Media Disc....?

When you say put it on a disc, do you mean you just burned the file onto a disc? That won't work. An ISO image is a bit like a Zip file, in that it's a container for multiple files and folders that needs expanding before use. You need a program like the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com) to write the data onto a disc the way it's supposed to be. If I misunderstood and you did it that way already, perhaps there is something wrong with the disc or the software you used?

Official Live GH3 demo tomorrow

by Rob Purchese

Activision has said that the official Guitar Hero III demo will be on Live Marketplace tomorrow, otherwise known as a day before my birthday.

We say official because earlier we told you that clever, maths-liking folks from Internet had worked out a way for you to download it already, then burn it to disc and play it on a normal, unmodified 360.

The demo builds up to a Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Weekend that will offer prizes to fastest fingers, and even let you shred-off against members of the development team.

The competition runs from 2nd to 4th November, and could see you walking away with a limited edition guitar faceplate signed by hairy guitar player Slash.

Activision will be popping the official website for the competition up tomorrow, where you will be able to find a full list of terms and conditions like if you have to be in the US to win, for example.

The publisher also stamped confirmation on the 23rd November date for the PS3, 360, PS2 and Wii versions of the game earlier today, although Aspyr Media is handling the PC version so we aren't sure about that one.

Pop over to our Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock gamepage to for all sorts of information about the game, like why it should be very good and not everyone is waiting for Rock Band.

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
