and there you have Gears of War 2 for ?31.44!

Computer says no!

Does anyone know the current best deals on Xbox 360 hardware? Don't think I can stretch to an Elite so think I'd be going for the Pro console. Would quite like to pick up something like GTA4 with it so if anyone finds a good bundle with that included, I'd be quite interested!

I'm back in the UK on Friday so would be happy to go and pick up from any of the major stores, or just get it delivered if needs be.

Sainsburies had a deal on for a X360 Pro for ?140, down from ?200 - the deal ended about a week ago however.

But you may still be in luck - Wii's were on sale at that time too, and although that deal also ended on the same day, you can still get them for only ?5 dearer. Maybe the same for the X360? Check out a store, I dont think they list on their site.

Yeah - I should have jumped on the Sainsburys deal. Was just too slow there. Will drop by a store when I get home and see if they're still running the deal.. fingers crossed.

Curry's have an Xbox 360 Pro + PES 2009 for ?169.99 which seems pretty good!

I don't know if you've got one yet but I thinkASDA are currently doing 60gb + PES 2009 + Fable 2 for ?167b> (according to HotUKDeals.com) - offer ends Sunday.

Wow - thanks for the tip off. I think I need to do some shopping around tomorrow. There are a few large Asda stores near me s one of them should have it - if not, apparently Gamestation are pretty much matching the deal at ?170...? Either way I've timed picking up an Xbox 360 brilliantly!

Does anyone remember that about this time last year, everyone was proclaiming that the PS3 would rule the roost at Chrsitmas? some people even counted the 360 out in favour of a "PS3 vs Wii" debate. Yet this year, it seems to be 360 all the way, would be funny if the PS3 actually came out on top.

Well I went to Asda and indeed they had the offer on so I finally picked up an Xbox 360. I then immediately took Fable 2 for trade in at Gamestation and got preowned Halo 3 (hard tin), Forza 2 and GTA4 so got a good little collection to get me started.

Just need to get a network cable round the room now for Xbox Live.. oh, and could really do with a better TV!!! My crappy old CRT just isn't doing it any favours at all! :(

Just not my kind of game I guess! :) I went for the deal at Asda because it was excellent value but I had in mind all along to switch Fable for some other games I actually wanted.

Cool :) Yeah - was surprised how cheap GTA4 was pre-owned. In the 2 games for ?30 section. It's not been out THAT long really!

Was just watching some trailers for Far Cry 2... it looks awesome! But again, not really worth getting till I try and get some kind of LCD-TV I don't think. Best get saving for a while!

    • Yes, it was amusing at the time because even then dbrand was well known for stealing the designs of products from other companies. That’s what they do.
    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
