I agree that figure does not look anything like Chris.

Obviously getting it for free is nice, But if i wanted a better one i would buy the Resident Evil 5 Official figures coming sometime after the release of the game.

I dunno why they made him have a full on beard, thats why he looks so different. Its only meant to be slight stubble, not a full on Barry Burton!

All they did was switch the clothes :p

But yeah, for free, its hard to complain. Especially when I preordered it for cheap too :D

It was just a massive outburst of rage that's all.

If you can be bothered to read this email i sent them then you will understand the problem:

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is with much disappointment that I am writing this email. Only recently I joined CEX and was very pleased with the speed and efficiency that you sent me my voucher through the post for the goods that I had sold you. The entire reason that i joined your website, was because I noticed that you have the 120GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive available for ?55. With this, and only this, in mind I promptly posted off to you ?55 worth of goods, which i received the voucher for.

All very good so far.

Initially I was cautious that you would sell out of this item by the time I received my voucher, but I was delighted to see that when I got the voucher, the item listing had actually gone up in stock from 40 to around 60. Therefore I placed my order, provided you with my bank details and posted of my voucher so that I could have the value refunded back into my account.

All very good so far.

A couple of days later I checked my inbox to find a very generic and unapologetic email stating that you had been unable to source my item. At the time of receiving this email there were 61 items in stock, according to the website. Now, I know that you will say that CEX has live stock meaning that the figure displayed online may not be completely accurate. However even though I had read this before I placed my order, due to previous positive experiences with CEX, I had faith that this margin of error would be something small, maybe 10 at most. But not SIXTY ONE.

Things started to go downhill.

I emailed you at your 'appropriately' named customer service email address "wecare". However despite including my full name on my email, I received what seemed to me to be an automated reply which was simply addressed, "Dear Customer". I thought this somewhat odd as it does not really give a very 'caring' tone to your customer service department. By now I had seen that your stocking levels could be out by an indisputably high level, and now that your customer service by email was unfortunately rather poor. Still, surely I could phone up and speak to a real person, perhaps they may understand the nature of my problem, and maybe even take pity on me and help me out. But no. Despite there being an 0845 phone number listed in the first email I received when I tried to phone you up I was greeted by an endless loop of options with no reply anywhere. Odd I thought, such a large company with no customer service number. Still there was still a shred of hope that my issue may be resolved, I could look on your website and find the local telephone number for my nearest store. Maybe they would be able to help me out, but no, you don't list their phone numbers on your website.

Surely things could not get any worse.

Or so I thought. At the time of writing this email I have just visited the webpage for the item that I wanted to order from you. It now shows as having SIXTY THREE items in stock. Surely, surely, this means that if you had none when your website showed 61 items, you must now have 2. And if you have 2, could I not be sent one of those.

Please, allow me to explain my problem. If the item that I want is out of stock, despite it showing as having over 60 items in stock on your website, then my voucher for CEX is worthless. I only sent you my items with a view to getting the voucher, to purchase the 120 GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive. Now, all I want, is to be either sent the Xbox 360 120 GB Hard Drive, as I had initially hoped, or, if you really cannot source the order, then I demand that you refund my bank account with ?55. As it is unreasonable to just send me back the voucher to use on a different purchase. Why? I hear you ask.

Well, how on earth can I be expected to go through this rigmarole again? How can I have enough faith in your website to order anything. Perhaps I will find something else I want, maybe it will show as having 1061 items in stock. But after this exceedingly poor experience with CEX I expect I would receive an email a couple of days later, saying that you cannot source the order. And then, after paying EVEN MORE money in postage by sending you my voucher by the recommended special delivery option, I will surely be out of pocket.

I cannot help but feel that CEX has taken me for a complete ride, that, as an innocent customer who has placed their faith in your company, I have been completely taken advantage of. It seems to me that you have enticed me with your exchange price and vouchers, and then, when i have sent you all of my goods, you return the favour by sending me a piece of paper with a meaningless number on it that is not worth jack. Then you win, I lose, you sell my goods, at a high mark up price, and I am left with a useless voucher.

Can some one please, please, please, for the love of God, please address my issue now.

Any if not, please, provide me with the contact details of a superior, a manager, anything, anyone who I can actually speak to and have problem resolved.

Thank you,

Kind Regards,

Richard Longstaff.

However, one hour after sending this email I got a call from a customer service rep, very apologetic and says he will dispatch the hard drive tomorrow - result? I hope so.

If anyone needs to phone them, since none of their other listed phone numbers work, and this number doesn't appear to be listed in many places, the number he called me on is:

01923 218953

Let's hope you get one through Richard (Y)

CEX are so backwards it's insane, in the store here in Ipswich they sell iPhones for ?450+ and a LG KS360i for ?100 second hand grade B - when you can buy an unlocked one from orange for ?80 brand n:p :p

Ah well, I'm just never going to shop there again.

only 38 pages for me, i think i have it set to max posts per page mind!

Yup, me too! :p It's quicker to load up one page of 40 posts, rather than 4 pages of 10 posts each.

What an absolute joke. The damn figurine which I couldn't care less about arrives! But no Game! FFS!

This will be the first time that something from GAME will have come on release day and not before, I will be so p*ssed off if it doesn't arrive 2morra.

Still at least it will allow me to grab the full 1,000 on 50 Cent tonight and send it back to lovefilm 2morra. That Sega Mega Drive UC has some seriously hard achievements on it! Some of the games are killer.

    • Google's new hand-wave reCAPTCHA can be bypassed with a stock photo by Ivan Jenic Image: Screenshot Google is testing a new reCAPTCHA method that asks you to wave at your camera to prove you're human. So, besides solving puzzles and reading distorted text, you can now use your computer’s camera to pass the verification test. When the hand gesture verification is triggered, your browser asks for camera access and prompts you to perform a simple gesture, like a wave or an open palm. Google says it records a short video of the movement and uses AI to extract 21 hand-knuckle coordinates to complete the verification process. The video is then immediately deleted, and Google swears it doesn't keep it. The process alone can be uncomfortable for people who wouldn’t want their biometric data, which hand scans technically qualify as, recorded. But it gets even more nuanced, as early testers discovered that the new hand-waving reCAPTCHA can be passed with a simple stock image. A user on X tested the new challenge using a stock image of a hand fed through OBS Virtual Camera, and it passed. I wanted to verify it, so I tried the same thing. It took me a few tries and a few stock images, but in the end, I was also able to pass the test. I simply had to readjust the stock image of a generic person waving inside OBS, and Google’s mechanism registered it as a legitimate hand gesture. Once again, it didn’t even have to be a video or an AI-generated hand animation. Given the simplicity of the process, the entire action can be automated in minutes. All it takes is a simple Python script to render the new reCAPTCHA method obsolete. And it doesn’t even have to be an AI bot, which is usually used for solving puzzles and other verification methods. The new reCAPTCHA method is still in its early phase, and Google will, hopefully, update its AI to at least reject still images. However, this incident, combined with users’ initial skepticism about Google’s practices regarding user data, likely won’t make too many people wave at the camera anytime soon.
    • 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 "to fund healthcare and tuition" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Who do you think you are talking about, some COMMUNIST? We are better than them, doG bless Murica!!! p.s. I'm from a country where government does exactly that, i.e. not form US.
    • Apparently not. I know it is on Edge for business at the moment, but how long will it be before it become on the home version of Edge?
    • Microsoft details new Edge for Business security features, including AI-powered scareware detection So Edge is adding a "scarecrow." Will it be animated?
    • I have this one and it's great, also paired with a Mac. I like the white back aesthetics of it and ability to have all your wireless usb peripherals under a clean lid. 4K @ 120 Hz and 65W usb-c charging is not bad even at its typical price point. The U series is probably better for commercial photo work though; IIRC one reason this one is priced in a different bracket is because it's not calibrated and verified for optimal color accuracy. Not something I think of in daily use, coding, and light gaming though.
