Try that first :p Never miss a bargain :L

And btw, I sent of my xbox that had RROD and the warranty sticker was missing, they switched dvd drives and sent it back to me, without fixing the RROD (fair enough), but then I sent it back to them with the new warranty sticker that they slapped on there and they fixed it.

Win?

Interesting! Although I could have a new 360 by tomorrow, which would be ideal in comparison to the 2 week turn around.

PC World staff discount is only 10% anyway. :[ So it's the same as Zavvi's offer.

But I guess it's better backed if you get it from a store that's actually in business. :p

They price match too though iirc, so I would get even more off. I'll double check with my mate later.

The Zavvi code still works. Again, the only thing stopping me from ordering is we don't know if its a Jasper or not..:/

Thinking about Zavvi going down the tubes, selling all their console stock cheaper at the time, I imagine all old stock is gone and the stuff they are selling now must be Jaspers since they just ordered it in after they were rescued. Still, you can't be 100% sure but makes sense to me.

Yeah PC World don't price mach Zavvi anymore. They only price match proper big retail stores (John Lewis, Comet, GAME, Asda etc).

Try and find a friend that works at HMV! I'm pretty sure their staff discount is 30%.

Well thats a shame if it was 30% I might of had you posting me a few things. lol

*Note to self* Try and befriend someone who works in HMV next time I get really drunk, randomly go around asking people if they work in HMV.

Yeah, things have gotten really quiet. :(

The only things I can see on Play.com are Tomb Raider Underworld for ?17.99, and Alone in the Dark for ?9.99, but I wouldn't even pay those prices for those games. They're terrible.

Andy, I heard you got a new xbox and I thought that you might need a new controller to go with it.

I think you will find this suitable:

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Pink Bundle - with Viva Pinata Party Animals game ?19.99

lol

Great game [that is coming from a pro evo fan!!] Shame that the box pictures two of the ugliest people in the world.

Fifa 09 - ?17.99 @ HMV

or

Fifa 09 - ?17.99 @ Amazon

10% off for students at HMV and/or it does 3% Quidco [Only 1% if you use the 10% student discount]

HMV have got some good deals in-store at the moment; just picked up a 120GB HDD for ?27 (it marked ?30 plus I got 10% student discount) - they've got quite a few discounted games too but I was in a hurry so didn't get time to check which ones.

They had 2 left in stock here (Truro, Cornwall) and they said quite a few other places do too.

I saw it mentioned on HotUKDeals, loads of people there are managing to get them from all over the place, so yeah it seems to be nationwide. Comes with the transfer cable too which seems to go on eBay on its own for ?20:pp

I knew it came with the transfer cable!

Someone replied to me last year irc and told me I was wrong. Why I outta! /shakes fist.

    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
    • Wonder how much of this it related to them using something like Mythos. It seems everybody is releasing large numbers of updates in the last few weeks.
