I'm not that bothered, but I do think it's pointless.

Most people starting at 9am will have to get up and start their journey in the dark. It's not properly light until about 8am here. And then it's dark by half four, when everyone's going home.

I'm sure that back in the days before electricity and alarm clocks it might have been helpful but these days I can't see how it helps.

Then in the summer it's light from about 4am to 10pm..so why would you want to mess with it there? 3am to 9pm or 5am to 11pm, what difference does it make?

Can some one explain to me how it create extra hour of daylight or an hour more sleep? I can't understand how that is possible. If anything if can give you an hour more the first day, but after that it is the same amount of hours sleep, right?

In the Autumn the clocks go back. So in the morning you would normally get up at 6am but because that hour has been moved back, it's only 5am..so you get another hour. It only works for one night, and in the Spring it goes forward an hour anyway. In the UK the change is usually done at the weekend anyway, so if you get to laze around on Sunday it makes no difference.

It doesn't create extra daylight for an hour..lol, it's just that we technically get up an hour later when the sun has risen, to have a lighter morning. But then the sun sets an hour earlier compared to what it would. I'd rather have the extra hour on the way home, I think it would be safer. The wasters who cause trouble aren't up at 8am.

I think we should get the name of it correct first, folks. Contrary to popular opinion, it's not Daylight Savings, (Like the name of a bank or something) it's Daylight Saving. Without the s. And I think it's unecessary! As Dave Barry once said: "You will never find anyone who can give a compelling reason why we observe daylight saving time"

Anyway, that's my 2 cents...
