Mark Wahlberg Lands Max Payne Movie Role

Recommended Posts

Beau Bridges has joined the cast of the dramatic thriller ?Max Payne,? based on the hit Rockstar video game. Mark Wahlberg plays the title character, a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the murder of his partner and family.

Bridges plays B.B. Hensley, a former cop and mentor figure to Payne, who helps him track down a cunning, ruthless killer.

Beau Bridges has a mentor quality about him, and I think he is a great cast for this type of role. Films adapted from video games have a horrible track record, but surely one day the trend will be broken and a victor will emerge. Is this the film to do it? I don?t know. I will say that with Beau and Mark on board, the cast is shaping up better than most and if any film has a shot of bucking the norm - this may be it.

From the IMDB message board:

There's a screenplay found here. It's probably written by a fan. There's parts of it that sound really condensed, but there are also parts I liked. Comment below.

This fan screenplay does rely heavily on the use of aliases, something the original game didn't touch on. In this game Max Payne's real name was Max Forseti. "Payne" was his undercover name. Also Mona Sax's real name was Lisa Horne and she's the daughter of Nicole Horne. At first it sounds a bit WTF, but given their links to the Inner Circle as explained in Max Payne 1 and 2 it sort of makes sense here. No mention of her having a twin sister in this one.

Most of this script involves Max headbutting people and choking people to unconsciousness. Someone figured it'll be ridiculous to show a six thousand manslaughter show on the big screen. Also the part with the Finito brothers was stretched out far too long as Gognitti and Vlad were dropped. BB was dropped as well, which contradicts his confirmed role as reported above. There's a new random person called Mr. Smike who was Horne's wing man, and possibly the one who shot Alex in the beginning.

But overall, it's a pretty good fan written screenplay.

Mila Kunis Talks Payne

Mila Kunis is the dictionary definition of lovely. She's the dictionary definition of all definitions of lovely (there are up to six of them, depending on your particular dictionary). You'll see her a little later this year in the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but she's also currently shooting Max Payne.

We're not that well versed with the computer game on which the movie is based, but it's basically about a cop (Mark Wahlberg) who has lost his family and is on a mission to bring those who caused their deaths to justice. We recently chatted with Kunis, who had this to say about the movie.

"For anyone who?s got concerns about Mark [Wahlberg] playing Max Payne, he?s amazing in it. Great actor, great guy," she insists. "I play [an assassin] called Mona Sachs who accuses him of murdering her sister and later comes to find out it wasn?t him. They kind of get together and try to figure out who was responsible for the murder of his wife and child and her sister. The whole film is about realising that you can go on a revenge spree and get your revenge but it doesn?t solve the problem. It?s a really great, dark movie. The story actually combines [the games] Max Payne 1 and 2 together. Lots of shooting and gunplay, but what makes this script different is that it?s a really dark, sad movie about a man who loses everything and thinks that the only way he can get it back is by revenge. And comes to terms with realising that he?ll never get it back."

Chris O'Donnell is Marks Opposite

It seems there are advantages to playing Meredith's spurned lover on Grey's Anatomy. Chris O'Donnell, who hasn't headlined a major film since 2000's Vertical Limit, just landed a role opposite Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in Max Payne, Twentieth Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Rockstar Games' shoot-'em-up game. Payne is the story of a cop (Wahlberg), haunted by the death of his family, who's hot on the heels of a series of new murders. O'Donell will play executive Jason Colvin. John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines) is directing the crime noir drama, which is currently shooting in Toronto, from a script by newcomer Beau Thorne.

First of all I'm very happy there is going to be a movie based on Max Payne second of all I'm very happy with the director, semi-happy with Markie Mark although I still can't believe that he was a rapper :| and finally I really want this to go well as Max Payne was one of my all time fav games EVAR!!one1!

Uwe Boll comes under the natural disaster category and should be treated as such meaning any and all attempts should be made to stop him and his ruthless spree of movie garbage...

Whats with all the Bruce Willis hating? He is and will continue to be a great actor both funny, deep and mainly pure kick ass...

I like him too but the thing is he may be a little too old to play this role

I wish they had just used the voice actor for MP in the games as he is also an actor!

For me MP's voice is more imp than looks.

Offtopic : Who the heck gave Boll a Best Director Award!!

Hoboken International Film Festival lol never heard of it, prob only 2 people go to it lol

    • iPhone 18 Pro drop-test video and photos leak on the dark web following a data breach by Hamid Ganji iPhone 17 Pro - Image via Apple Apple is seemingly facing one of the biggest data breaches in its history, and just a few months before the official debut of the iPhone 18 Pro series, photos, a drop-test video, a supplier list, and key phone components have reportedly been leaked by hackers. Last week, we reported that Tata Electronics, an Apple supplier and iPhone producer in India, was hit by a data breach. As a result, it was reported that more than 200,000 trade secrets and confidential documents belonging to Apple and Tesla were stolen by the ransomware group World Leaks. According to Reuters, the group has now leaked supplier lists, component details, and photos of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models on the dark web. One of the materials leaked by the hackers is a drop-test video of the iPhone 18 Pro, which is due to launch this September. The phone is shown in a gray color and has the same familiar design we saw on last year's iPhone 17 Pro series. The device also appears to be quite durable, though it seems to be thicker than last year's model. One possible explanation is that Apple may be using a larger battery in the iPhone 18 Pro series. Moreover, Reuters says it has seen at least six documents mapping many components in the iPhone 18 Pro models to their respective suppliers, including details on chips on the main circuit board and on battery and camera components. The documents reportedly detail hundreds of parts that will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro models. A person familiar with the matter told the outlet that Apple classifies this data as sensitive and “is concerned about the documents being shared on the dark web as they relate to unreleased models.” Apple is reportedly investigating the issue but has yet to issue an official statement.
    • You do you, I've just said that it first appeared in "home" version before it will be available in "work" one. I use Edge only because it still supports MV2 uBO extension even on Android - I'll switch when they stop.
    • I imagine that was a review or something? My reviews mostly contain a lot of images and galleries, but these are all webp too, but yeah it all adds up on the page load. Would help if you were more helpful with your critique instead of bitching and moaning like a Karen 😂 Because then we might be able to fix it for you.
    • If Valve refused to let them make the case, I wonder if they've already partnered with someone else to do it? The fact that they didn't seek permission/licence before diving straight in is incredible though
