Css Based layout and IE6

Question

If you look at: http://www.curvatures.co.uk in IE 6 you notice that some thing went really wrong.

When ie6 was mainstream i wasn't even contemplating CSS based layouts so i have no idea's about work arounds for this stuff.

But seeing as most people are still using Windows XP and the default browser is IE 6 not 7 i need to come up with some work arounds.

Any ideas?

p.s. Link to style sheet: http://www.curvatures.co.uk/style.css

Well i found a stand alone version of IE6 and a list of rendering problems regarding css and IE6 compared to IE7 and ive pretty much fixed all the problems i have.

The only pain in the butt ive got left is because i used the "_" technique to show things in IE6 and leave things open for the rest the wc3 css validator now gives me Parse Errors where i have done this.

So new question, what would be the best way to impliment the special css for IE6 and still get a valid CSS sheet according to the wc3?

Look into using conditional comments. :)

For some reason when viewing the site in the IE6 standalone its thinks its both IE6 and IE7 when i enter the conditional comments.

Although im guessing that has more to do with having IE7 installed.

But hopefully it should now render correctly to some one who uses IE6 as there main browser. Need to find some one to test that for me :)

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.2.3 changelog: All GPUs: Fixed hardware rescan issue when cleaning all GPUs without restarting or shutting down UI: Added Guru3D mention in the About section. General: Various fixes and enhancements. • That would be nice, if excel could refresh pivot tables without bugs. Frequently you refresh a pivot and all parameters get lost. Now this will happen automatically. Bravo MS!
