Steam research project - fancy helping out?

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

I am currently in the process of researching and writing my university dissertation on the subject of Valve Software?s Steam digital game content distribution system and the impact it has had on the games industry, and the way in which it may potentially shape the future of the industry. As part of my research, I am trying to find out some information about the current usage of various features of Steam and how they are rated (or not) by Steam?s user base ? that youou!

I would greatly appreciate it if you could take 10-15 minutes to fill out this questionnaire (https://www.formspring.com/forms/?174562-WeWTQPcdIx) to aid me with my research. It?s nice and easy ? 95% of it is multiple choice ? so all you have to do is read each question carefully and choose the answer or answers that you feel is/are most appropriate.

If you have any questions, or would like to find out more about my project, I can be reached at [email protected].

Thank yAnd here's that link again: https://www.formspring.com/forms/?174562-WeWTQPcdIxIx[/url]

Also, if any of your friends use Steam, please ask them to take part, and to pass this metheirtheir friends!

Done, good luck with the project. Would you be able to give us a run down of some of the results if possible when you have finished compiling them, would be nice to see how the Neowin community respond.

Thank you, and thank you to everyone who has responded so far. As for posting a run-down of the results, I don't see why not, as I will have to tabulate and collate the data for inclusion in the dissertation as an appendix anyway - when the time comes, I will try and remember to post a copy here!

In fact, the data is already looking quite interesting after only a few responses - for example, it appears to be confirming the perception that many gamers had of Steam when it was first released and made a compulsory 'upgrade' from the WON system - that most people hated it! By comparison, most respondents' current attitude towards Steam is a much more positive one.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • This makes me think of Dune for some reason.
    • I'm too old to return to the "good old days" when I was installing custom ROMs and tinkering with my devices - now I just want to turn it on and use it. I've read that banking and payment apps work on Murena /e/OS (I'll have to check the ones I use) and I also really want to support Fairphone 😉
    • Time to start going to the local church and play Bingo for a while.
