I haven't watched the first 2 all the way through so I might have to get the HD versions if they are out in HD.

Something is seriously wrong here   .

Must be tough, being John Connor ? what with all those Terminators always trying to kill you, your mother, your friends. But it?s even tougher to be someone outside of John Connor?s immediate circle come Judgment Day.

Thanks to the upcoming prequel comic to ?Terminator Salvation? from IDW Publishing, we?ll get a glimpse of what life is like for the rest of the world once the machines take over ? and before John Connor is the leader of the resistance ? starting with the first issue, due in January.

?One of the toughest things with stories involving time travel,? said writer Dara Naraghi, ?is that no matter what you do, there?s always some sort of paradox.?

Naraghi hopes to avoid those paradoxes when he fleshes out a different part of the post-Judgment Day world. ?I get to play in my own sandbox, with a lot of new characters who won?t be in the movie,? Naraghi said. ?There?s a lot of breathing room.?

His four-issue run takes place in 2017, a year before the events of the next movie (which will hit theaters just as the comic concludes). ?In the film, John is straddling the line between being a soldier in the resistance to becoming the leader he?s been told he has to be,? Naraghi said. ?He?s struggling with the responsibility. Does he want it? In the comic, he?s still just a soldier, taking orders as opposed to giving them. But his persona and actions are starting to have a strong effect on the people around him.?

The people ?around him? aren?t actually in his immediate physical presence ? Connor?s started doing nightly radio broadcasts to communicate with surviving humans around the world. Those people include a resistance leader named Elena Maric, a former LAPD officer now waging a campaign to fight the machines? takeover of an auto plant in Detroit, and Bem Aworuwa, the former lead engineer of an open-pit uranium mine in Niger, Africa. ?The films are always set in and around Los Angeles, and I wanted to show what was going on in the rest of the world,? Naraghi said. ?What are other people doing??

Since the machines have taken over the existing manufacturing plants ? and need uranium for their fuel cells ? people who can disrupt the supply chain are crucial parts of the human defense. But it?s not easy for them to unite, despite their common goals. A French doctor at the mine, Lysette Gravois, though valuable to the survivors for her medical training, is nonetheless considered an outsider. Yusuf Al Mansur, another character at the mine, is an illegal immigrant from Syria. Jackson Parker, a former factory worker in Detroit, just wants to take care of his family but is dragged into the resistance kicking and screaming.

?This lets me play with the themes of human prejudice and class distinctions that people have to overcome,? Naraghi said. ?Acceptance and prejudice don?t mean quite the same things when every day is a struggle to survive.?

I'm keeping my expectations super low so there will be less of a disappointment. (sorry if this has been mentioned so far) I just looked on IMDB about this movie; it's being directed by the guy who directed Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (4.7/10, ouch). The actors look decent but what about a soundtrack? T2 had Guns 'N' Roses' 'You Could Be Mine' and George Thorogood's 'Bad To The Bone'.

I need to stop comparing it to T2 in my head since what dialogue could ever top "hasta la vista, baby"?

To be honest, i don't think 99.9% of films out there could ever compare to T2, it's genuinely one of THE best films ever made.

I'm with you on this one, though, keeping my expectations low because so far the only thing I've seen going for the film is bale. Then again, the guy that wrote this one also wrote the dark knight....

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I saw this tonight and thought some of you might be interested :)

Carter Is Terminator's Big Bad

Helena Bonham Carter, who just joined the cast of McG's upcoming Terminator Salvation, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that she plays a villainous character in the SF prequel.

"I kind of play a baddie, definitely a baddie," Bonham Carter said in an interview while promoting her new film, the comedy-drama Sixty Six. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm a very bad person."

Bonham Carter is a new addition to the cast of the film, which already includes Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd) replaced Tilda Swinton at the 11th hour and will work a total of about 10 days on the film, which is currently in production in New Mexico.

"Tim [burton] would have killed me if I hadn't done it, because he's such a Terminator fan," Bonham Carter said, referring to her longtime partner and director on such films as Planet of the Apes. "I've been in big movies before, like Apes, and Fight Club was big in a different way, and Charlie [and the Chocolate Factory] and Sweeney Todd were big, but I've never been in this kind of big popcorn action movie, a male one, an action one." Terminator Salvation opens May 22, 2009.

w00t!

^^^Very cool addition.

I actually just watched Planet of the Apes again the other day for the first time in years (this was the first DVD I ever purchased, mind you) and didn't realize she was in it right away because she was playing a character without that electrified-looking hair-style she always manages to get for her characters. Then again, she wasn't playing a human character either :p

The Los Angeles Times caught up with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who admitted that he is puzzled and still not yet sold on Terminator Salvation after he was given a private screening of the comic con sizzle reel by the producers:

?I?ve seen very little footage so I don?t really have a feel for it. I hope they do well, and I hope it is a huge hit. I do hope it creates a spectacle on the screen. That is what James Cameron created,? Arnold said. ?I still don?t know how it will play out with this one. They showed me some footage, but I don?t have a feel for the movie. I didn?t see enough. I wasn?t sure who the Terminator was. I don?t know if there is one or if he?s the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how the strong the movie will be.?he movie will be.?

If they can't get Arnold, I would settle for a Robert Patrick cameo in one of the three films. I think it would be awesome to see him as a T-1000 again.

Doubtful, maybe in the last of the series, its set right after judgment day, much time is needed until they have a T-1000.

Would be nice though for a cameo of them being built in a factory or something.

There's nothing stopping them using either of their appearances (this film is set before even the T-800 series exists, aka Arnie) as the terminators have TWO declarations - series and model. Arnie is a T-800 series, model 101. The T-800 refers to it's design, it's strength, it's frame, it's processor, etc. whereas the 101 refers to what it looks like (hence model). So there could be a T-600 series, model 101 that's a T-600 that looks just like Arnie. A T-600, Model 102 would look completely different.

That's why Arnie looks the same in terminator 3, but has those weird fuel cells, it's a change in the design, but the model used is the same.

Or so the legend goes.

Pause.com has posted an interesting rumor stating that Linda Hamilton will be reprising her role as Sarah Connor in flashbacks for Terminator Salvation. The site later spoke with a rep for the actress who said they hadn't heard of it, but we think there might be some truth to it!

Opening May 22, 2009, the McG-directed sci-fi action-thriller stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Moon Bloodgood, Common, Jadagrace and Helena Bonham Carter.
