Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins

Timelines & Continuity:

OK, so I understand that "Sarah Conner Chronicles" has NOTHING to do with this timeline.

BUT - does this film follow on from T3? The ending of T3 really interested me - Connor sat in a bunker...

Yea the best part of T3 was that final scene. I don't think this movie explains how the war began (ie. the bunker scenerio) instead showing us the war itself. Although some back story is required. Jumping right into the war might be a weird way to start it. I do like how they are sticking to the story of the originals though. Especially when it comes to the scar he had in T1. In that article from /Film they describe a scene where Bale gets the infamous scar.

I'd conclude yes. There may be some finer details from T3 that may or may not be considered in the next movie, but obviously it carries on the fact that Judgment Day has happened.

Fifth Terminator Underway Already

Terminator Salvation is still some months off, but positive fan reaction to the internet trailers that are out there has led to production company Halcyon to announce plans for a fifth instalment already.

This doesn't come as any great surprise, given that the film was already the first in a planned trilogy, with star Christian Bale signed up for three films already. Still, the news that it has a planned release date of 2011 is fresh, and shows that the filmmakers are feeling pretty confident in the wake of positive buzz on the trailers to date.

McG was in Dubai, where the announcement was made, and suggested that the Middle East might be a shooting location for the film - but that's got to be taken with a pinch of salt given that he could have been playing to the crowd, and has a well-known fear of flying (which led him to drop out of Superman Returns, remember).

But for more news on the fifth film, we'll most likely have to wait until closer to the release date of Terminator Salvation (which has thankfully lost its "The Future Begins" suffix) on June 5.

I have lost all hope for this franchise. Terminator 2 is, has, and always will be the pinnacle of the series. I've seen the disappointing "sneak peek" trailer, and to me, the new movie looks like another flashy cinematic tourist trap.

I might be with you on that.

Cameron's movies had a lot of heart to it. Probably because of it's time. This one looks to be an out all action flick with great CGI, solid story & good acting. But will it affect you inside after seeing it? Guess we'll see.

Christian Bale's last movie, The Dark Knight, boosted his popularity tremendously. With that in mind, I have a strong feeling this movie will reel in some big dollars in the box office.

Bail kicked ass before Dark Knight, but it definitely will help at the Box Office. The reception has been so great they already confirmed the 5th like Rappy said. Nice to see the studios having so much faith behind it as McG always planned a trilogy. I have a feeling it will be one of my favorite Terminators which is hard to say because they differ so much from the originals. The originals were about the chase, running away from the unstopable Terminators. This new one we are brining they fight to them its got an entirely different vibe which will make it hard to say what is your favorite "Terminator" movie is as the first 3 were all about running.

after seeing the trailer it appears something like that, everybody is expecting a movie full of war and many effects against the terminators

but from i seen in that trainer dont appear to be like that, it appears more about a story of some guy, many dialogs, the scene of the explosion that reminded me the same in resident evil 3 and some Terminator walking around

with the exception of the last Big Terminator, the movie really not appear to have that constant big fights against each other (ex: the scene we saw in T2 of the future)

hope i'm wrong but you all are expecting something and appears that will be other

Trailers aren't the movie. Often trailers consist of footage scrapped from the final film, its just to lure you in without giving away too much. The sheer fact that there's a scene located in a Terminator production factory is evidence enough that we will see many of them.

DC Direct has revealed new busts for Terminator Salvation, hitting theaters on May 22. Pictured below are the busts for the T-600, Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood), Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin), and the classified T-RIP.

In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

^ I watched it recently. Its not as bad as I remember if you remember John is a little wimp from T2. However if you want him to be the badass Bale is, think again.

Curious how they will do John entrance into the military/resistance. If they will continue with how T3 finished or do something different. Btw Rappy where was that last one from? The detail on it, reminds me of those models HotToys makes.

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
