Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins

Recommended Posts

WOW you haven't even seen 100% of Terminator 2? Is the movie really not that good, to you?

Or you are just very busy guy? :p

Well it was before my time and up until now, I never really had much ambition to watch it. I think I understand a good part of the SkyNet business but maybe I can find a website that will give me a 5 minute read of each, maybe something like Wiki.

I have seen about 3/4's of one of the Terminator movies and I think it might have been the first one. I remember seeing that kid's mom go to snipe the guy who will invent SkyNet or whatever it is.

If I haven't seen anything beyond that, will be I be out of loop for this one?

You really should watch the Terminator 1 and 2 but it's not really required as far as timelines go, this is a prequel in some senses. If you aren't going to watch them, here are the important parts. John Connor sends Kyle Reese back in time to protect his mom. Kyle ends up fathering John while he's back in time. Arnold's model is the evil Terminator trying to kill her in the 1st. In the second he had been capture by John in the future, reprogrammed and sent back to protect him this time. They try to prevent the war from happening but fail.

Now Skynet is an AI created by the humans. When we tried to destroy it it got angry and decided to take control for itself. It realized humans try to kill everything so it viewed us as a threat so they decided to exterminate us and thats the war :)

Pretty much all you need to know. There's more to it but that should let you see the new movie and not be confused. Although there are a lot of little things in it that relate to the movies so if you saw them you'd like it more.

As for my tickets, Cineplex.com allows pre-ordering :D Not sure what theaters you go to. Check it out tho most do these days.

Will the movie still have OLD Terminator 2 MUSIC?

Toys R Us have these on sales...

T600 Robot head - $24.99

Terminator Deluxe Hand - $19.99

3 and 3/4" Action Figures - $2 for $9.99

Terminator Salvation Vehicle w/ Figure - $15.99

Best Buy - Movie Cash on Terminator Salvation on Terminator 3 DVD - $6.99 (I already own it, get it again and resell?)

^ There will be classic Terminator music in it but some new stuff too. Also I did like that quote from T3 as well, especially how Arnie said it. My biggest problem with T3 was Nick Stahl. I really disliked him as Connor, granted after T2 he did fit the profile for "lil wimp bitch." I was hoping he'd grow out of that phase :)

Thanks, I like checking out the bad reviews most as I think it's gunna be amazing. Unlike that review I think its going to easily surpass T3's domestic gross revenue. I think it even has a chance to be the largest Terminator release as T2 only made 200 mil domestically compared to T3's 150. Hype is really strong so opening weekend it will dominate and most reviews are very good so I think it's going to do really well. Probably not Dark Knight numbers but certainly enough to give the studios no reason not to produce the trilogy.

I think she'll be better but I really don't like Clarie Danes much either, I know you do. Also big difference is the character, one was like Sarah in T1 and the other is more or less Sarah in T2. After the war and learning about everything.

Lots of T3 haters here, and I really don't understand why. Ok, maybe a couple scenes were a little corny, but c'mon. They nuked the planet! How do you expect to go from T2 to T4 without Judgment Day? I can't wait to see T4, but I have a couple suspicions about it that I may not really like if so much if I'm right. I'll have to reserve judgment until I've seen it, and Christian Bale rocks, so I'll probably enjoy it regardless, it'll just be a matter of degree.

People don't hate Terminator 3 because they actually made Judgement Day happen, at least that isn't what I get from people, if anything the ending was one of the better parts of the film.

People don't like it because it wasn't that great of a film, wasn't anything near Terminator 2, was too cheesy, stupid lines, there is making fun of themselves in a film, plot was pretty bad in general.

But these are just my opinions. :p

I hated T3 because it came across as a parody of the franchise in places. The supposedly "funny" scenes seemed to "send up" the previous movies, making a mockery of them.

It got some great points across, and actually lead into a half-decent story once all said and done, but how it got there was lame.

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
