Dark Ride
Thank you all for your replies. Seeing how most people suggest the 8800GT, I'd go with that. But it's not as widely available as the HD3870. So if there's no way to get hold of a 8800GT I'd get the HD3870 instead. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted November 30, 2007 Global Moderator Share Posted November 30, 2007 I would go for the HD3870, as you have a crossfire motherboard, so you could add another one if needed at a later date... definitely not worth the extra money for the performance increase you'd get... get the 8800GT Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/603389-8800gt-or-hd3870/page/2/#findComment-589027357 Share on other sites
HyBry
definitely not worth the extra money for the performance increase you'd get...get the 8800GT From what I have seen it scales much better than 8800GT in SLI, but it seems not to have driver ready for many games in which case it is waste... Valerus
Haven't heard anything negative about the GT. I use the GTX and it's grand, so I'm thinking the GT is just as good of a product for the price. HyBry
you need nvidia board to get SLI.. I think that was one of the reasons why their new chipset is delayed, cause intel wants in on the action as well... 9 series are out in February for enthusiasts and June I think for rest.. btw you should consider xfire as it seems to scale very well on the new 38xx series.... Dark Ride
Finally found a 8800GT in a shop. They got a CLub 3D one and a Gainward Bliss one. The Club 3D card is slightly cheaper. Is there any major difference between the two brands ? Or can I just pick any one of them ?
