[NCAA Football] BCS Go Boom

Recommended Posts

VT BABY! Haha, yeah BCS needs to go, how can they possibly pick the "right' 2 loss team for the title game now? Not to mention how f'd up it is already in terms of rankings vs. schedules. Look at VT's schedule this year vs. their biggest opponents such as Boston College. VT had a tough schedule, they actually had to earn their way into the top 10, BC and Virginia were both just handed that. They both failed when they had a challenge. No matter what happens at this point, nobody is going to agree it was the correct outcome. I think this system could still be used to determine playoff seeds, but thats about it, its fun to watch the rankings change all season long, than to have the final top 10 or whatever playoff would be awesome.

That makes no sense...

OSU is not a two loss team either :)

I don't see what all the complaining is about, over the last couple weeks there has been some HUGE upsets that really shaped the top 5, is this not what SHOULD happen if there is an upset? I was fully ready to accept that OSU was not going when they were upset by Illinois. I think the complainers are just looking for an excuse to make up for a poor season or a big upset..

Oklahoma beats #1 Missouri... OK, not going to lie, that wasn't too hard to predict, but...

PITT beats #2 West Virginia!

The BCS ain't gonna last.

Why is it the BCS's fault that West Virginia got upset? Are you living in a perfect world where this cannot happen and if the odds say a team should win, then they just should?

Heh, this whole season pretty much sums up the reason I don't play odds in sports.

Please tell me you're not that dense.

I never once implied that. What I implied was that there are a lot of deserving teams for a national title shot, and the way the BCS is set up they're not all going to get their shot, hence why many people are proponents of a playoff system of some sort.

So I guess if the Colts loose their division playoff game even though on paper they could definitly have a shot at a superbowl win, it's all of a sudden okay because we used a playoff system instead?

Every team plays by the same system, playoff or not.

You are the one that sounds dense, all politeness intended.

I don't see how LSU is able to jump Va Tech when both of them won their conference championships yesterday and going into the games, Va Tech was ranked higher. And why shouldn't OU get a shot at the title game for beating #1? The whole BCS thing sucks, I don't care what it did for Florida last year.

Like a talking-head on ESPN Radio said last night, if the BCS are just 'standings' (which they are), how can any team jump another team after both won? We still have a ranking system, nothing has changed from the AP/Coach's Polls, we're just tricked into thinking it has.

And who really wants to see OSU in the title game again? They play a 1-game season (Michigan).

Because one team beat a higher ranked team than the other team, why does this escape people?

It's all quite logical, sounds as if you are just upset that it didn't go your way, their are facts and numbers to put the teams in the rankings that they are, its quite simple.

Because one team beat a higher ranked team than the other team, why does this escape people?

Um, no, they didn't. Oklahoma beat the #1 ranked team in the nation,.

And, as for your other post:

So I guess if the Colts loose their division playoff game even though on paper they could definitly have a shot at a superbowl win, it's all of a sudden okay because we used a playoff system instead?

I'm sorry, but that literally makes no sense what-so-ever. If the Colts "loose" their playoff game they should go to the Superbowl? Huh?! Yes, they could have a shot at the Superbowl. But that's the beauty of the playoff: every team that HAS a shot GETS a shot!

Why did LSU pass VT? Well, its very simple. When they met each other in Baton Rouge in September, LSU beat VT 48-7. Therefore, you cannot possibly place VT on top of LSU when they end the season in even terms (both won their conferences).

Yeah, Virginia Tech really didn't have a shot at the title game with LSU winning.

What really sucks is that Mizzou was ranked #1 but was considered an underdog going up against OU in the Big 12 Championship.

My opinion is that if you're ranked #1 you should never be considered and underdog, otherwise you don't deserve to be #1.

The way teams have played this season, no one wants to be #1.. or #2.

But, the oddsmakers in Vegas don't vote on who is #1, do they?

Yeah, Virginia Tech really didn't have a shot at the title game with LSU winning.

I disagree, compare schedules, look at the computer rankings. VT should be in this game, ohio state shouldn't be glad to be top 5. Nobody seems to pay attention to who is actually being played in these games, hawaii was the only team that had it as easy as ohio state..

    • OpenAI is now rolling out Lockdown Mode to more ChatGPT users by Pradeep Viswanathan Back in February, OpenAI first announced Lockdown Mode for users who want the most comprehensive protection from potential attacks. At the time of the announcement, the company mentioned that this feature was available to a small set of highly security-conscious users, including executives or security teams at leading organizations. Today, OpenAI announced that Lockdown Mode is now rolling out to all personal ChatGPT accounts, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro, and also self-serve ChatGPT Business accounts. Users can enable the feature from ChatGPT Settings > Security when it is available for their account. When Lockdown Mode is enabled, ChatGPT limits or disables several features that connect to the web or external services. These include live web browsing, Deep Research, Agent Mode, and more. Here is the complete list of services that will be disabled in Lockdown Mode: Live web browsing: Web browsing is limited to accessing only cached content. Search results may be limited, unavailable, or stale. Image support: ChatGPT may not display images in regular responses or retrieve images from the web. Users can still upload image files, and image generation remains available where it is otherwise available. Deep research: Deep research is disabled. Agent mode: Agent mode is disabled. Canvas networking: Users cannot approve Canvas-generated code to access the network. File downloads: ChatGPT cannot download files for data analysis. ChatGPT can still operate on your manually uploaded files. It is important to note that Lockdown Mode does not completely block prompt injections from appearing in content that ChatGPT processes. For example, a malicious instruction could still be present in an uploaded file or cached web content. However, the mode is designed to reduce the ways such an attack could send sensitive information outside the conversation. Along with Lockdown Mode, OpenAI today also announced that the Active sessions feature is now available across ChatGPT accounts and workspace types. This feature allows users to review where their account is signed in across devices and end sessions if required. A session will have the following information displayed: Device or browser information. First-party app context, such as ChatGPT, Codex, or API Platform. Approximate location. Sign-in date and time. Whether the device is a trusted device. Whether it is your current session. OpenAI highlighted that the Active sessions feature will not be available for accounts linked to an organization’s single sign-on setup, including SAML or OIDC.
