echo
I've been using litestep for...ever (5 yrs or so). I installed Vista ultimate x64 about 4mths ago and i'm dieing to get my litestep back. I got it installed and running properly running my theme i created bout two years ago that works exactly like i need it to. My only problem i have is that with Vista when I click on my "file manager" (it is supposed to open an explorer window) shortcut button it start explorer (the taskbar and everything). Is there somewhere else I need to change the shell to litestep? Does anyone else run litestep in vista? I don't like windowblinds. It eats up too many resources and it doesn't really get rid of explorer it just skins it. timmmay
this is a long shot but try changing the shortcut to run explorer.exe /e Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605138-litestep-in-vista/#findComment-589039781 Share on other sites
echo
yea, but it doesn't do EVERYTHING i want it to. I can completely change the layout of how things are...not just the apperance. I do alot of coding and graphics work and I created a theme a while back that put everything at my finger tips without taking up alot of screen real estate. As well as not having to view the desktop to click icons. It's perfect for me. But in vista it's a pain the ass to run litestep. I had to go through a **** ton to get it working correctly. Now my biggest problem is my evar i have set to open up a explorer window actually starts explorer the shell. you can't do this http://customize.org/litestep/themes/15324 with windowblinds. this is a long shot but try changing the shortcut to run explorer.exe /e i didn't even think of that....i'll give it a shot...gimme a second Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605138-litestep-in-vista/#findComment-589039786 Share on other sites
Darrian
Of course you can't, and why would you want to? But my opinion on how that looks is irrelevant; Windowblinds isn't a shell replacement or a widget engine, or any kind of desktop enhancement program, it's a skinning app. Try Desktop X. echo
i need the flexibility of litestep and it's what i'm used to and love...it's been working amazing for me for years. I was just wondering if anyone knew a fix. not the explorer.exe /e doesn't work.... ok...well i'm stupid...using a direct path like "D:\Temp" opens an explorer window in that path. So that works for me. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605138-litestep-in-vista/#findComment-589039797 Share on other sites

madwhit
... My only problem i have is that with Vista when I click on my "file manager" (it is supposed to open an explorer window) shortcut button it start explorer (the taskbar and everything)... I know you already have your problem solved but I'd like to point out one other possible solution. There is an explorer replacement that is a far cry better than explorer. So much so, I really miss it when I'm working on a system that doesn't have it installed. It is called xplorer? (explorer squared). It has a free lite version and a pro version. The lite version alone is exponentially better than explorer :pp You can find it here: lite: http://zabkat.com/x2lite.htm pro: http://zabkat.com/ btw, I am in no way, personally or professionally, connected to xplorer?. I just love it and wanted to share the info. -madwhit <>< Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/605138-litestep-in-vista/#findComment-591007052 Share on other sites

Phillip Blanton
Windowblinds doesn't eat up resources... It's only taking 552 K on my Vista system right now. Regardless... Windowblinds sucks out loud. And this thread isn't dead. It's just sickly.
