remote desktop... control linux form windows?

Recommended Posts

alright, i've installed fc8 last week and ive been using it a lot over the week. this is not the first time ive tried linux, and i always go back. this time, however, im enjoying it and i honestly think it can become the primary os on my computer.

i need a remote desktop like solution for linux... since my dad and bro run windows, i often use my computer from their computers... from windows it was easy (remote desktop) is there a way i can see the linux screen and control the linux machine form windows xp?

i dont much about vnc, some suggestions would be valuable.

thanks.

You could use VNC, it's just like Remote Desktop in a lot of ways. You'd need to be running the VNC server on the Linux computer and have a Windows (Win32) VNC client stored either on your other computers or on a USB Memory Stick, from there you would connect to the Linux box like you would using Remote Desktop in Windows, only you'd be using the VNC Client.

do this "yum install vino" (Wish this was installed by default).

then , go to System > Preferences > Internet and network > Remote Desktop, play with settings, after that, from Windows PC , you should be able to connect to Linux desktop easily :)

BTW Fedora 8 is rocking here too.
