Singleton Confirms He's Joining A-Team

Recommended Posts

If no one else can direct, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire... John Singleton! Yes, the Shaft director is on for another TV show adaptation, as he confirmed the rumours that he's set to bring BA, Face, Murdoch and Hannibal to the big screen at last.

The rumours have been flying about this project for years, but Singleton's hiring is a big step forward. He told BlackVoices.com that he's planning to update the show from the original premise, which had Vietnam vets on the run for a crime they didn't commit, helping innocents while staying one step ahead of the law.

Appanrelty the film version will "reflect contemporary issues and politics", which we suspect translates as "cast them as Iraq war veterans on the run from an increasingly paranoid government" and will be "less cartoony" than the original, in more of a Die Hard or Lethal Weapon vein. It remains to be seen if the latter will actually happen - after all, even Die Hard 4.0 was a bit cartoony, and that seems to be the way action films are going these days. Still, we can hope - and as long as someone locks the gang in a warehouse full of spare parts and welding tools at some point in the iflm, we'll be happy.

Still no word on a start date or casting - so let's see if we can help Mr Singleton out. Who would you cast to fill the ginormous shoes of the original quartet, Empire?

Off the top of my head.

Hannibal Smith - Bill Elliot (tough old dude)

Templeton "Faceman" Peck - Jamie Bamber (BSG connection)

H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock - Bruce Campbell, or Jason Segel if Bruce is too old

B.A. Baracus - I don't know it is hard to replace Mr. T in this role. Michael Clarke Duncan or L.L Cool J? I'm sure there must be a better choice though.

Amy Allen - Jaime Murray

Gen. Hunt Stockwell - Robert Vaughn, again

Col. Decker - Micheal Hogan

[CAPTAIN MURDOCK]

A diagnosed psychotic with bipolar mania and dissociated identity disorder, Murdock has a genius IQ, and knows everything about everything. An expert at impersonation, Murdock is able to convince any given onlooker that he's a doctor specializing in cardiology, the Count of Monte Cristo, a helicopter pilot pretty much any given occupation on earth. When under pressure, Murdock always proves to have the skills he claims to possess; including fluency in most any language-but always with an off-the-wall comment to remind you that he's basically demented. In charge of impersonations and getaways, he's also a chopper pilot. Murdock essentially regards the planet Earth as his own private playpen. LEAD.

[PIKE]

A menacing mercenary, Pike is a swaggering tough guy who is always out for a major profit, especially if it involves dishonestly. He is loyal to no one, and takes advantage of anyone he has the ability to physically destroy, especially if the gain is monetary.

[CIA AGENT LYNCH]

30's. Lynch is a CIA agent attached to the Army during an invasion. Intent on outwitting the men around him, Lynch is neither brilliant enough nor a master fighter enough to truly succeed. He comes across as a tight-assed agent who isn't slick enough to live up to his criminal intentions, and who is afraid to put himself in the crossfire.

[GENERAL MORRISON]

A tough looking guy in his late 50's, he is a four star General involved in overseas missions. He is a veteran army lifter, and is in charge of masterminding various invasions. He instantly commands respect of the men around him, but is not without fault and conflicting priorities.

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
