Well that was EASILY the WORST episode of Torchwood yet :(

The acting was appalling throughout by all involved to such a high degree that I honestly think that they were deliberately taking the p*ss out of themselves throughout the episode.

Can't understand how anyone could honestly state that they thought this episode was 'dark' and 'scary'!

I loved it and thought it was one of the best, I was getting a bit annoyed with Owens dead stuff.

Despite mega-ratings for both respective series, Sci-Fi Pulse reports that both "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood" will undergo some massive casting and storyline changes in the near future, including the loss of both key cast members.

The site reports that David Tennant will continue with his role as The Doctor through the entire upcoming fourth season, this year's Christmas Special and three specials slated to air in 2009. The 2009 Christmas special (the third of the three specials commissioned) will see the character regenerate again, this time played by actor Robert Carlyle.

They also say that Burn Gorman (Owen Harper), Naoko Mori (Toshiko Sato) and even John Barrowman (Capt. Jack Harkness) will leave "Torchwood" next season, though Barrowman will make guest appearances. Former "Doctor Who" companion Freema Agyeman, who reprised her role for three episodes of this season's "Torchwood", will join the cast full time next year.

The show itself will apparently also lose its adult-themed content and be geared more toward "Doctor Who" style audiences - essentially working as sort of a filler series for off periods of "Doctor Who" - and only five episodes instead of the usual thirteen have been commissioned.

The news sounds questionable. Tennant's tenure in the role was expected to finish up by the end of the specials so his being replaced is not news (especially as it remains unconfirmed), whilst Carlyle is one of the two names - the other being James Nesbitt - being cited most often as the most likely to takeover the role.

Carlyle himself however dismissed such talk on Monday saying no-one has approached him, however he'd certainly consider it if they did. More questionable is that the report says that filming has been underway on the four "Doctor Who" specials for the last few months already - surprising considering filming on the fourth season wrapped only a few weeks ago.

In other and more solid news, the BBC is unhappy with the leak of scripts for a two-part episode of Who's fourth season to The Sun. The tabloid reports that the story, penned by the series strongest scribe Steven Moffat ("The Girl in the Fireplace," "Blink"), is set on a 'library planet' in the 51st century where books give away SPOILERS about people's life stories and creatures such as data ghosts and Vashta Nerada (who're described as "piranhas of the air -- shadows that melt the flesh") wander the halls.

The fourth season of "Who" is scheduled to premiere sometime in April, until then however for those who don't live in the UK be sure to view the upcoming season trailer below which aired in cinemas last month (someone had to film it bootleg-style with a camera which explains the quality).

Dunno how true that is

Personally, I think taking Captain Jack out of Torchwood, would be like taking the Doctor out of Doctor Who. After all they did create Torchwood following the popularity of his character. I suppose you can say the rest of the team are expendable and as we see from the Owen dying storyline, they can only take that storyline too far, so he's an obvious exit. But cutting Jack would be a very bad idea.

I'm also not impressed that they would be losing the adult aspect of the show and making it more like Doctor Who.

To me Doctor Who is for kids, while Torchwood can be allowed to be that little bit more gritty and edgy, and explore more adult themes. Taking that part out and essentially dumbing it down will be a big mistake I think.

I'll only watch the repeats of Torchwood on Thursdays at 7pm, I got bored with all the silly pointless so called adult scenes. I do enjoy the programme but if I miss an episode it doesn't really bother me as I don't think it's anything special.

If Jack leaves then it'll be completely pointless as to me he makes the whole show.

I saw the circus episode a few days ago. I found the direction, look and feel to be vastly different from the other episodes. This made it seem cheap and the dialogue was just horrible. Yanto was just waaaaaaaaay overboard with his "I'm scared yet intrigued with tears look"

I think I missed Fragments episode. I taped the Adrift one, but I had no idea fragments was on.

I taped Adrift on my dvr. Suppose I'll have to wait for BBC 2 to show fragments.

As for that adrift episode, a bit poor. Some strange the screaming that would last 20 hours was the best bit, just WOW.

    • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
