It will come on Friday July 15 at 10 ET and every Friday for the next 9 weeks. The 1st episode is on at 10 ET tonight and on sometime tomorrow night for anyone that missed it.

Works out rather well, I can watch Harry potter then go home and watch Torchwood

I actually though it was pretty good. Did prefer the older episodes, but that doesn't mean this series is bad. Just different.

And I loved the jokes about the Severn Bridge. Too true. Nearly ?6 to get over it now! (and as Gwen made a point of in the clips of upcoming episodes - Wales is NOT England tongue.gif).

Awful, they've totally Americanised it.

I wouldn't say it was awful, I really enjoyed it but I agree that it was very Americanised. They even said "Season" and not "series" which is something that really annoys me for some reason. Was nice to see the actor who played Greg Pratt in ER ( I forgot his name) :D

So i guess all the big alien stuff of Doctor Who (the Christmas specials) and Torchwood (Children of Earth) never made the news in America or never happened because the CIA woman was surprised about aliens.

lol +1 point made!

utter crap - the yanks part fund it and turn it into yet another boring seen it all before CSI clone. It just doesn't befit the Torchwood name.

I'm tempted to say that I agree but I'll wait until 've watched a bit more before making a final decision. The hardest thing for me was the jarring difference between Eve Myles's very natural acting style and the new American cast who just seemed very wooden in comparison.

I thought the bit about the CIA agent racing out of a hospital, jumping on a plane and renditioning everyone within a few hours was pretty silly as well.

The first two seasons of Torchwood were a bit silly but I thought Children of Earth was really excellent. Hopefully this will improve over the next couple of episodes to match that.

Can't watch it any more, 3 episodes in and it's getting far worse with each episode :(

RIP Torchwood and shame on you Russell T(wat) Davies for supposedly 'overseeing' production but ultimately letting the Yanks murder your previously successful series!

You should have let the BBC pick it back up and continued with the successful formula you had before.

Muppet!

RIP Torchwood

These two points are exactly the opinion I was thinking when coming in this thread

I've always felt first series of torchwood was rubbish and then it got better with Children of Earth being its highest point. Sadly this series so far has let it down.

HOWEVER I've started watching it so I will watch it to conclusion and I just hope it will get better

  • 4 weeks later...

what series is children of the earth?

Im up to speed with the latest series of Torchwood, and its been my first time properly watching.

Ive watched some early episodes which had individual stories per episode, but only watched maybe 2 and thought they were too silly to carry on watching.

Children of Earth would be Series 3, but I don't think they ever labeled it as such.

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
