Dell XPS M1530 - Should i get this

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm getting a new laptop, in the UK. Budget's roughly ?1000, not much more. I'm thining of getting the XPS M1530. With it configured to the way I want it, with 2.2ghz processor,2gig ram,the g8600 graphics card, and a 200gig 7200rpm hdd its in and around my ?1000 budget. What do people think of this laptop, is this the best choice for me? Or what else would you recommend? Use it for gaming and general use just.

Games are not supported on laptops so if a game dose not run or doesn't play well don't expect to get help.

Can't say I've had a single problem during the 6 years that I've been using laptops.

Games are not supported on laptops so if a game dose not run or doesn't play well don't expect to get help. But yes it looks like a fast configuration for a laptop.

Do you mean games don't run AS WELL on a laptop in comparison to a desktop? 'Cause the way you stated it made you sound like you were saying gaming is not allowed on a laptop at all haha.

No just that many games say:

?laptop versions may work but are not supported?

?laptop models of these cards are not supported?

So if there is a graphics problem or the game runs slower then what the desktop version of the card runs at then its not supported and most likely will never be fixed to run well.

I'm not to worried that games may not support laptops, its a laptop i must get due to travelling around etc. Any other recommendations for myself, or is that about the best laptop I could get at the moment? And anyone any idea of any new things coming from dell for this xps m1530 anytime soon, such as different screen resolutions or new promotions?

You should get the WSXGA+ (1680x105) screen for more desktop space.

Yea I want that, thats the only thing I really want on the laptop, apart from that i feel it would be perfect for my needs. Dell won't let us customise it with that screen at the moment though :( Might wait a while and see if it becomes an option, anyone know if it will be anytime soon?

Dude Laptop have the same OS as Desktops they can run games just as well (Not crysis but thats a differnet story :p)

Yes you should (Y)

I have The M1530 and I love it I can't say anything bad but that when I remove a CD it makes WMP lag for a sec but other then that it plays WoW Just fine and BF 2142 (I have yet to get crysis). I got 3GB of ram the C2DT7500 and the 8600GT and it runs great can't comment on the better screen tho I wasn't able to get it as I order like 1 day before it was released. but it's a great laptop and it's good laptop at a good price :)

How did you configure it with 3gig ram? Did you get new ram after getting the laptop, a 2 gig and a 1 gig? Or are you running it with 4gig in x86 os? Thanks, i'm unsure to wait and see if they add the better screen, or just order it now. The deals on at the moment for the m1530 in the UK are pretty good I believe. Would you say its better to get a 200gb 7200 hdd, or a 250gb 5400 one? Will i notice much difference in performance between the 2, in terms of boot up times and loading programs?

Us can config with 3GB. Well It depends if u go with the 999 deal they have u get blue ray and thats a 230 upgrade. also it depends on how much you are willing to spend. 7200 is better but I never notice the differenct cuz I never do anything that needs super fastspeed on the HD (I might notice soon tho with all the games)

    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
    • Lol are you mad because I'm not using AI? I'd rather pay people than lose a bunch of potential customers and get humilated because I used AI. A lot of people won't purchase a game if it used AI during development.

LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM. LibreWolf features: Latest Firefox — LibreWolf is compiled directly from the latest build of Firefox Stable. You will have the the latest features, and security updates. RFP is considered the best in class anti-fingerprinting solution, and its goal is to make users look the same and cover as many metrics as possible, in an effort to block fingerprinting techniques. Always display user language as en-US to websites, in order to protect the language used in the browser and in the OS. Disable WebGL, as it is a strong fingerprinting vector. Prevent access to the location services of the OS, and use Mozilla's location API instead of Google's API. Limit ICE candidates generation to a single interface when sharing video or audio during a videoconference. Force DNS and WebRTC inside the proxy, when one is being used. • hahahahah wow hahahah you sure got me there hahahahahah, you know that bad performance is always due to poor optimization by the developers, right???
    • "I know for a fact I'll never own one of these." This is why choice is better than government regulation. Globaly Android has something like 72% of the smartphone market. Granted the vast majority of that is low end phones. Apple can and should charge whatever they want. The market will decide if it is too much.
