MTP Device not showing up my My Computer

Recommended Posts

You might need to change the drive letter because the one its trying to use is in use by another device right click on my computer goto manage

Goto ?Disk Management? find your device and right click on the white area and goto ?Change Drive Letter and Paths? give it a different drive letter see if that works for you.

Ohh really? that changes things then . . ..

Must be a driver issue of some kind on the X64 system does device manager show any unknown devices perhaps compare an X32 system and a X64 system and look in device manager to see what devices show up when you plug it in.

On the 32bit where it works find it in device manager and see what drivers its using (just open up Device manager find your MP3 player double click on it so you get the device properties for it and the goto the driver tab and hit Driver Details.

This might help you or it might not you will be able to see what drivers the working setup uses and might give you some clues as to what is wrong with the 64 bit system.

It looks like the problem is due to the MTP incompatibility with x64 explorer (it works with media player 11 not 10). So you can either type in the address 'My Computer' within 32bit IE or you can follow the following guide to change the player from MTP mode to UMS - http://www.yjzone.net/showthread.php?t=2470 :D
