Merged

Thought it would be better to merge all the guides into one as it would be handier for users to get all at once. Would also help keep the forum less cluttered with so many stickies. (which gets overbearing for users)

It would be nice to have them all in the OP though. ;)

Any plans on translating them in other languages? Say... Dutch for example?

Hello guys,

My friend bought a Macbook and loves it. However she has 2 applications that runs only in windows. She asked me to help install XP, but she also wants her existing Snow Leopard.

How can I dual boot XP and Snow Leopard? Or Vmware is easier? She only needs XP for using 2 applications on it now and then.

Thanks for your help,

Cheers :)

You can use Boot Camp Assistent to set up a dual-boot configuration, it's located in /Applications/Utilties. If she does't rely on graphics intensive apps I'd just use VMWare Fusion since you don't have to go through the troubles of setting up multiple partitions, managing them and having to restart every time you need to access Windows. VMare Fusion is much less disruptive to your workflow.

Just picked up a macbook pro (2009) and am slightly confused with the dock section (beginner guide), it states "right clicking the separator will give you options for the dock". Right clicking?! I don't have left/right click!

You can set Dock preference by going to:

Apple > System Preferences Dock.

Also in the system preferences for the mouse or trackpad you can set the Secondary Click options.

Or hold the Option key and and just click normally

    • I noticed this was already happening within my organization; my teams location will change between remote and on-site without me having to do anything. Is it possible this is live already for select customers?

    • While LibreOffice is not pleased to see a new competitor, they are absolutely correct in stating that Euro-Office using a MS file standard as a default is not being truly "European." Using a MS standard just means Euro-Office is just a "bastardized MS Office Suite." (Wasn't a major purpose of Euro-Office was to get away from being captive and enslaved to MS's Office Suite??)
    • Microsoft continues its long-term policy of spying on their users--despite vehement denials. That feature will be disabled (or removed) either "elegantly" with MS providing a true way to disable it, or "quick and dirty" via a third-party who WILL come up with a way to disable it. Your choice MS...
