Share folder only for one ip address and port

Recommended Posts

Hi. I need to share a folder in Windows Server 2003, and it can be accessible only from one ip address and port, and only from one user. How can i set it? I could make that only the user named 'upload' can reach the folder, but i need to set the ip address and port to be able to reach only from there.

Help me, please!

Thanks!

restricting it to the 1 user is easy but the ip is not going to be possible unless you are using no other shared folders on the server. not sure why you'd need to do it like this anyway, why can't you rely on the user restriction?

there is only this shared folder, no other

Since it's on W2k3, have you tried to make the folder accessible via FTP and only allow the desired IP address and desired user?

The FTP folder could then be mounted in Explorer... or however.

no, but that would be great, too. i havent tried, couse i dont know how to do that. could you explain?

Thanks!

turn the windows firewall "On with exceptions" through control panel.

Put a tick in the exceptions that you want and add any others that you may need to admin the server.

Put a tick in file and printer sharing and click change scope.

Change the scope to include only the ip that you want to allow access to.

Look at the attached screens for more info.

Um why do I get the feeling that your trying to do this across the internet?? Your not wanting to use windows file sharing across the public internet are you??

The machines that will be accessing this server are on the same local network, or connected using a VPN?

You would NOT use windows file sharing across the public internet, you would need to use ftp or sftp to upload files.
