Street_Spirit
I just booted to vista and found it crashs ALOT...evry 30 secs or so it crashs...i havnt changed anything for ages no new software drivers or anything..ive checked all my CPU temps and stuff and all is fine..ive also done a disk check..occasionally it says microsoft windows has stopped responding it may if you wait...then i gotta restart my explorer.exe....also when it lags i was watching in task manager the cpu priority is like 0-8% then goes to like 50-100 and back to 0-8 and it goes up and down.. +allan MVC Posted January 14, 2008 MVC Share Posted January 14, 2008 1) Are you getting a blue screen error? If so, what is the error message? 2) Have you run a full virus / malware scan? 3) When the cpu spikes which process is eating the cycles? Street_Spirit
no processes go up and down in CPU.....comp is virus free...no errors just crashes then after 10secs or so evrythting goes back to normal then after another 30secs-1min of usage crashes again......i havnt changed anything Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613370-vista-performance-tumble/#findComment-589134272 Share on other sites
Stokkolm
When the CPU spikes check your processes to see which one is causing it to do that. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613370-vista-performance-tumble/#findComment-589134275 Share on other sites
+allan MVC Posted January 14, 2008 MVC Share Posted January 14, 2008 Correct. If you say that the cpu spikes then one or more of the processes have to go up. Open Task Manager to the "Process" tab and double-click on the word "CPU" in the title bar at the top. This will sort the column with highest usage at the top. Also, saying your system is virus free doesn't make it so. Did you run a full scan? Stokkolm
There are more processes than just the apps you are running and any one of them could be causing the issue. Just monitor the processes and tell us which one is causing the highest CPU usage. kouhii00
Street_Spirit, When you ask people for help, you have to listen to what they tell you to do, if NOT THEN DON'T ASK IN THE FIRST PLACE. jesseinsf
This guy sounds like a phony. There are people out there that like to make things look bad when they are not. They feed off of this stuff. Plus this guy sounds like a tweaker. Sounds like he's tweaking so much that he can't even respond correcly. He also knows about explorer.exe....who knows, he was probably tweaking so hard that he can't remember if he deleted something in the registry...lol Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613370-vista-performance-tumble/#findComment-589136426 Share on other sites

Preppy Veteran Posted January 15, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 15, 2008 ^-- What he said. The exact event log information (fault data) == possible route to solution. I respect you're trying to tell us what you know, but look up the fault bucket data on your system (info on how to do this here, and maybe there's something obvious people can help you with. But people aren't psychic, so when they ask questions, it helps to answer them. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/613370-vista-performance-tumble/#findComment-589136453 Share on other sites
