Blocking incoming connections is just not good enough. Say you were infected by a trojan or a worm. All your data would be uploaded or you will take part in a ddos attack and you wouldn't even know if you don't have a firewall that checks outbound traffic. Get real people.

Ok I have been testing out Comodo 3.0.17.304. It gets real tiring baby sitting a firewall. You cannot install or do anything without being nagged. I had 7 Windows XP updates and Comodo went nuts. D+ alerts like mad and the install mode is BS.

I agree the interface could use improvement, but everything you mentioned could be set so it doesn't nag you if you don't want it to.

Comodo back on top and sitting pretty with the #1 slot. Check it out.

That's first equal on these tests with Online Armor. The following link is a very good critical analysis of both of these products from a respected IT journalist:

Online Armor comes out a clear winner getting the Best Firewall Software of 2008 award.

ive been looking for a vista 64 bit firewall, but no such luck. right now i have kaspersky internet security installed. it's good but it really slows down my internet. comodo is much too intrusive and very hard to uninstall. i had to reformat my vista install last time i tried it. i really like pctools pro, but it doesn't work on x64 yet. also tried nod32 and wasn't impressed at all, i don't know why everybody says they love it so much ?

so i can't really cast a vote at all right now. im really surprised more firewall companies don't make there products x64 compatible.

"Hardware Firewall/NAT Router"

that's what i voted for ;) ... cause with a hardware firewall a software firewall is NOT needed for incoming connections... outbound is about the only thing software firewalls can help with but even those i dont think are worth the resources to run them since if your careful you dont got to worry about ever needing outbound protection.

Comodo is one of the worst firewalls I've used and its only the 2nd time I've had it on my system and it isnt any better. Yes there are good features on it but not nearly as good when it entirely takes full control of your system like it has done to my system just recently.. I'm not kidding either once i had uninstalled it my system was back to normal.

I would say Sunbelt Kerio wins this one but not as the 'definitive' firewall for 2008 as its always been one of the best just a shame it isnt free!
