Fringe - Season One

So.... My question is, in that youtube video, JJ talks about having Nemoy being part of the show. Am I reading to much into it, when I think he is saying he could be in more episodes, as in he is joining the cast?

Well the character he is playing is a massive part of the mythology of the show so I wouldn't be surprised if its a revolving guest spot.

yeah I can't wait for tonight.. So excited, but sad at the same time.. After Heroes and Chuck were done, this was the only show on TV I had left.. now I got nothing to watch until they come back on.... except for seasons 4-5 of BSG so I can fuss at Rappy.

You would be hard to find a Season 5 of BSG :p

you need to see Caprica as well that is welll good

But yeah tonight is going to rock seeing as there's a season 2 I predict cliff hanger.

OMFG at Peter!!! WOW never expected that..

Great episode so funny how the twin towers still exist

You guys need to hurry up and see it so we can discuss!!!

Holy crap yesssss that episode was amazing Peter is dead? or is that the other Peter?

Plus the ending was so epic!

That was awesome.

Walter must have found a way to cross over because what he lost a long time ago was Peter when he was 7. So the Peter we see is from the other side.

I'm also curious to see if the show ever introduces more sides, a bit like Sliders did back in the 90s where there were thousands of alternate dimensions. I only see it going that route if the show begins losing its touch, but I'm hope that that won't happen.

That was one epic episode. Wow. As soon as I saw Walter in the cemetary with that coin, it clicked for me - putting the all the pieces together. And when I recognized the twin towers in that last scene, my jaw was on the floor.

Thankfully, we don't have to wait until Jan. for more episodes, unlike another incredible TV show *cough*LOST*cough*.

I thought that Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman already fudged my mind with alternate realities in the cinema this past weekend, but they managed to do it on TV, and do it well.

I wonder if the newspaper with Obama on frontpage was from the alternate world or was taken from the "real" (this) world when William Bell left a few months back. I think the latter makes sense as opposed to the former, as events such as 9/11 paved way for Obama (lets face it, Kerry or someother Democrat would have beat Bush in 2004 if 9/11 didn't happen). In other words, if 9/11 didn't happen (which we assume from the two towers still standing), Obama would not be our president in 2009. Obviously little things like this in an alternate world have major consequences, despite Walter emphasizing that the alternate world was only slightly different (which I disagree with, since any minor incident leads to major consequences in the long term). If we are to believe that despite minor differences in the alternate world, major events are still in contact, then the universe must possess a property of cosmic destinies, but destinies are not scientific (unless one is to believe in a superior force - but even most supposed God-believes of today don't follow the idea of destiny).

I also assume that the timeline between this world and the alternate world(s) are synchronized, it is just that Walter had to enter a slightly alternative world to capture Peter and bring back to the "real" world. It would be wicked if Peter went to the alternate world and found some old articles of a boy being suspected of kidnapping, only to find out that it is himself!

Another question! Why didn't Walter keep his wife? Was she dying from a genetic disease that cannot be "cured" (that is no matter what alternate world Walter entered, his wife was doomed from a cosmically ordained event, like the supernova in Star Trek?)

I felt the pacing for this finale was way, way off. Not saying I didn't enjoy it, but there were parts were I was literally bored. Did they really need to give Peter a random monologue? It's as if he was so completely useless that they felt the need to give him something to do. Also, the mystery of Walter's disappearance was extremely weak and his time spent was disappointing.

It also was way, way anti-climatic after that bandage dude was stopped. I liked the idea that Peter isn't this dimension's Peter, but showing this either right before his odd monologue or right afterwards would have been way more effective.

So, far the only finale that has really wowed me was Terminator: SCC. Chuck was decent, too.
