Fringe - Season One

I wonder if the newspaper with Obama on frontpage was from the alternate world or was taken from the "real" (this) world when William Bell left a few months back.

I think the paper said something to the fact that Obama is moving into the new Whitehouse which to me means something happened to the Whitehouse in that reality and its been rebuilt.

Did the actually show the tombstone with his name on it or am i blind lol? As all i saw was him going up to a grave but i couldnt see any name on it

I was thinking it would be Walter's wife on the tombstone at first, not Peter. Then towards the end of the show I was thinking about how Peter couldnt remember his coin collection and triggered the thought that Peter was on the tombstone instead. Etiher way, good ending to the 1st season and its a kick ass show.

Was also freaky how the alternate world still had the WTC Towers. Makes me wonder if the white house was hit instead of the WTC. Hmmm, bye bye Bush then?..haha.

Good show!!

I felt the pacing for this finale was way, way off. Not saying I didn't enjoy it, but there were parts were I was literally bored. Did they really need to give Peter a random monologue? It's as if he was so completely useless that they felt the need to give him something to do. Also, the mystery of Walter's disappearance was extremely weak and his time spent was disappointing.

Yeah agreed.

Yes, it said new white house. Ignore all the "no way he would've won" ranting.

Yeah I noticed that about the new white house...bit weird that...hopefully we will know more.

I clicked as soon as he mentioned the coins in the car. Two coins and Peter not remembering it. That's why the observer gave him to coin, he knew it would trigger the memory of crossing over to get a new Peter and hiding the "patcher" in theh beach house.

Yes, it said new white house. Ignore all the "no way he would've won" ranting.

But isn't there a reality where he wouldn't have won? When Walter first explained the multiverses to Olivia, didn't he say that every decision has n possible outcomes, and that there is a universe for each outcome (rolling a dice would produce 6 universes with each result, there'd be a universe where you didn't roll the dice as well, etc)

Anyway, if what I state above is true and there is a finite number of multiverses (new ones created at every decision), then how was bandage man opening up the right multiverse where William Bell was? How would you ever find him considering how many multiverses there are?

I just watched it... WTF? WTF? WTF? WTF? WTF? I"m soooo confused. lol.

So Peter died? or did his alternate self die? Or another theory is when Peter died in 1985 , Walter went to the alternate reality in the past and stole Peter as a child or baby, then raised him in the normal reality? Speaking of 1985.. reminded me of Back to the Future Part III. Where in 1955 Doc sees his tombstone, his future self in the past who died in 1885. But back on topic, when Walter gave the coin to Peter, Peter said that he doesn't remember the coin. But Walter remembers that he did like the coin So perhaps the Peter we see is from an alternate reality? Not to mention Olivia did once ask about Peter past, in a long ago episode. Peter said he doesn't want to discuss his past. There is also another thing. Olivia almost got into a car crash on the way to the hotel. Perhaps her alternate self would've crashed and she'd never reach the hotel? and if she doesn't it chains on to she never taking the elevator down to meet Bell. hmmmmmm...

from ign more things from the paper:

it also has a headline about former President Kennedy addressing the U.N. And for you masters of obscure sports trivia, Len Bias wins the MVP award in a Celtics sweep.

That is clearly the alternate reality. lol. and Stock Markets remain closed?

oh my :|

Through out the season in some episodes there was some sort of "flair" that would appear on the edge of the screen. It happened in the finally when just Olivia cross over to Bell's reality. So was reality switching for her throughout the season and she didn't know it till the end where she was more perceptive about it?

It also appeared in areas without Olivia. The episode when we first saw the Observer is one where it showed up multiple times.

Tend to wonder that if that's a sign the Obeserver is around then.

What I'm thinking is that those events were causing the membrane between the dimensions to weaken, and that somehow caused the light. Note that it was *really* bright when she switched to Bell's reality.

Hopefully they delve more into the source of the light in the next season...

The was the best season end, ever! Totally amazing, I kinda guessed the Peter thing a few episodes before though when they started talking about multiverses. I cant wait for S2.

That Peter had died was (I think) made very clear in that episode where Walter was explaining Peter the circumstances of his accident (I can't recall which episode it was). Walter said something on the lines of "having lost him". But back then I had thought that the Observer was some kind of alien who had brought Peter back to life in exchange of a promise to do something in return when he asks for it. :-P

So is the Observer some person who our-Walter befriend when he crossed over? May be he is watching out for alter-Walter trying to get his son (alter-Peter) back and warning our-Walter when he gets too close to success? That led me thinking, are the Pattern-related events being caused by alter-Walter's experiments?

I saw it last night but didn't mention it, there's no 13th floor access from that elevator, at least not according to the floor indicator in the elevator. By the time she would have reached floor 13 is when the she moved through dimensions.

    • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
    • 26H2 absolutely will support ARM Windows just not on devices that came with 26H1. This is evident by the fact I am running 26H2, which on my MacBook Neo and Surface Pro 12 (inch), within a VM.

    • The FIFA World Cup is not US centric.
    • It’s amusing how Microsoft is pushing IT admins as if this was a major, game-changing update. In reality, it’s just an enablement package that bumps the build number, which is disappointing compared to the more substantial 22H2 and 24H2 releases. Technically, 25H2, 26H1, and the upcoming 26H2 are essentially the same, differing only in support schedules. They could have included the Windows K2 improvements here, but chose not to. The era of Windows being in the backburner continues, and this 26H2 release feels like an afterthought. Shame, Nadella, shame.
