Alright, I think I've done this before, but this is a different question. Would it be wise to eat powerbars as a SNACK (not a supplement) in my quest to gain weight? I can have a three meal food intake, but would it be okay to have an occasional powerbar as a snack (it has some 230 calories). The only thing keeping me back is that powerbars are mainly used by hardcore athelete that just want the calories that they're gonna burn while excerising. THe thing with me is, I DONT WANT TO BURN THEM, so I don't want to absorb myslef in harmful stuff. I hope this makes sense.

If you want to gain weight, I think you need to be doing exercise to build up your muscles and getting lots of protein to build it with. Otherwise you risk turning into a blob of fat which would probably look 100 times worse than being lean.

Of course this may seem odd because you burn calories that way, but it just means it might take longer (and last longer and look better).

This doesn't work for everyone. Some people find it very hard to gain weight, or even maintain a healthy weight. Just like some people need to work harder than others to lose it.

What if I work out as well for like 10 minutes. Then would it be okay?

So you want to get fat and flabby first? :o

If you work out, it would need to be weights..not aerobic.

I have fantastic control over my weight, I can gain/drop 20lbs in 2 months if I want too. And I'm diabetic. You just need to know what to do. I obviously can't have too many carbs, but I can certainly pound down protein. Having a protein bar will not hurt you. The best way is to wake up, have a high protein meal like eggs and have a protein shake, then maybe fish for lunch/dinner. You'll need to start lifting weights if you want to gain weight the right way. Make sure you wait around 2 hours between finishing your meal and starting to lift. No less, and it's okay if you wait a little more. This works best for me and the bunch of people I've given advice too. I'd then take some creatine monohydrate. It will at least put some water weight on you, and if you keep lifting you can fill that mass will muscle. I know plenty of people will say bad things about creatine, but it is just fine. I take it 2 months in a row, then stop for a month, and repeat cycle.

Good luck.

P.S. - If you decide to lift and whatnot, don't forget to drink protein afterwards as well, it will help your muscles heal. Oh and don't lift every single day. Only ever other day or every 3 days.

You want to gain weight? Eat more of anything and don't exercise.

You want to gain muscle weight? Workout and take protein shakes. No bs bars no gatorade (athletes don't touch that crap) no soda, you want meat? lean not 2 fatty meat which means Duck on special occasions. Fruits and vegetables, and a lot of them. A lot of water too.

^ As for Creatine, you don't need it.

While Creatine's not dangerous, it's not necessary to build muscles. It's what people do when they're impatient and want quick muscles That also happens when you hit "the wall", your limit where you can't push any extra weight for some exercise. I didn't hit that wall yet and I'm not even taking protein supplements so it will be along way before I'll convince myself to take creatine. This is not to say that it's bad, it's just to say that it's not a must for weight gain. Some people will build up with it, some will without it.

Well, what you want to do is gain weight while still eating healthy.

http://nutrition.about.com/od/dietsformedi.../GainWeight.htm

Read the "What to Eat to Gain Weight" section. Google is and will always be your friend.

Not a bad link, but I found the EXACT same link on several OTHER search engines. Google IS NOT the greatest thing in the world, as so many of you fan boys seem to think!!

To hear people say "Google it." almost makes me nauseas anymore!

    • If they ever come out and say the AI is no longer accessible to the gen pop people aren't going to know how to tie their own shoelaces.
    • It's hard not to when they are shoehorning Ai into EVERYTHING. Some are active users by choice, I bet a lot of them are because it's shoved in their face the entire time.

    • Nearly half of American adults now use AI, but concerns are also growing by Hamid Ganji Since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, the way people research, get their news, and perform routine tasks has changed dramatically. Now, almost everything around us has a touch of AI, and companies are trying to embed it into nearly every product and service they offer. With that in mind, new research shows how Americans are actually adopting this change and using AI in their everyday lives. According to new research conducted by the Pew Research Center, 49% of American adults now use AI chatbots like ChatGPT or Gemini. This marks a significant increase over last year, when only 33% of American adults reported using AI. Additionally, four in ten U.S. adults (42%) said they use AI tools to research information, while 38% said they use these tools to handle tasks at work. Entertainment, image and video editing, and getting medical advice are among the other ways Americans are using AI. Moreover, ChatGPT dominates the U.S. AI market, with 44% of respondents saying they use OpenAI's chatbot. Gemini follows at 24%, while Copilot and Meta AI account for 17% and 14%, respectively. Respondents also said that AI chatbots generally have a positive impact on their productivity and how informed they are. But when it comes to AI’s impact on society, Americans remain largely skeptical. About 40% of American adults believe AI will be more harmful than beneficial to society over the next 20 years. Additionally, 31% expect AI to have a negative effect on them personally. Another 31% of respondents say AI could be equally positive and negative. As for data security, pessimism remains high: 71% of respondents say AI will make their personal information less secure, while only 3% believe it will make their data more secure. American adults also largely lack confidence in both the government and AI companies when it comes to regulating and developing AI. About 67% of Americans have little to no confidence in the U.S. government’s ability to regulate AI effectively. Six in ten adults are also not confident that U.S. companies will develop and use these tools responsibly.
