Bond 22 : Quantum of Solace

Recommended Posts

I thought Jack White was alright, but Alicia Keys was rubbish. This is by far the worst Bond theme, even worse than Madonna's. The last one was alright and grew on me, but I didn't like any of Brosnan's Bond themes. They're getting worse each time out.

Alicia Keys and Jack White make an unlikely duo as they team up for the video of their James Bond theme duet.

The pair joined forces to sing Another Way To Die which is featured in Quantum Of Solace.

The tune was written and produced by White, 33, who also plays drums on the track.

The video for the song features 27-year-old Keys and White performing against a grey, desert-style background and walking around a futuristic white room.

Another Way To Die marks the first time in Bond history that the film's theme tune will be a duet.

White and Keys beat rumoured candidates Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis and Duffy for the right to record the Quantum of Solace song.

They will join legends such as Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran and Carly Simon in the Bond theme hall of fame.

Meanwhile Keys recently admitted that she has only watched two Bond films in her life - Goldfinger and Casino Royale.

'I'm not exactly up on it,' she said.

'I've got a lot of work to do on the Bond side,' she told The Independent.

The Quantum OF Solace soundtrack is due out on October 28.

Daniel Craig has revealed a fan paid ?200,000 for an Aston Martin DBS wrecked during productions of the 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" - ?70,000 more than a new model would have cost, reports the Daily Record.

The luxury supercar was written off in April when technician Fraser Dunn crashed it through iron railings and into Lake Garda in Italy.

Craig said: "I think somebody paid about ?200,000 for this written off Aston Martin. It was a Bond aficionado."

The car was one of six Aston Martins Fraser used on the set of Quantum Of Solace, the 21st Bond film. It had been due to take part in a lakeside scene in which Craig roars away from the site of a fireball crash and a truck ends up in the water.

Craig added: "It was early morning. It was a winding road. It was wet and I think he just lost control.

"But who cares? Because he's fine and it's only a car.

"I saw him the other night and shook his hand."

as soon as she started singing.. I thought.. do we really need her singing?.. and the music. WTF?... :/

Let's Not/avoid putting the blame on just Alicia, please!

Alicia Keys is a GREAT singer, but it's weird because his Rock style and her R&B style don't mix. That's All!

Jack White is as much to blame as Alicia Keys... He could probably did a better composing on it but it's a shame he didn't (and ended up not fitting for Alicia)!

The producer is also to blame, and the promotional people too... everybody should made sure the song is Great before let it loose in the first place!

So many people feel this song is bad, leading me to believe A lot people who oversee the project also feel the same way.

I don't really like it personally.

I don't think their voices mix that well, and I don't really like his voice in general, its not necessarily a bad song, but much like say Amy Winehouse who's voice isn't really the norm in a way, and appeals to a certain market, his voice is a bit off.

But I will wait till I see the opening title sequence, the song, the atmosphere and the motion graphic content before I make my final judgement on it.

Casino Royale's Title sequence was great and for a reboot of the series worked really well with its song.

I loved that title sequence...probably one of the best openings (Y)

Daily Mail has posted an early review and its not promising...

The 22nd Bond picture is the shortest yet, but feels like one of the longest.

About an hour in, I began to feel something I haven't for quite a few years in a Bond film - bored.

They go on to give it 2/5

Just came across this early review from the Times: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol...icle4969426.ece

Another bad review...this is looking bad...as much as I love bond I hope this isn't true!

Ouch... I had a feeling the director change would make a big difference, but I didn't think it'd make it that bad.

Another review... pretty much along the same lines

They changed directors???

oh and this was predicted. they made the shift ever since they saw the huge success of Bourne.

No help from the government, no unlimited supply of cash, no unlimited weaponry, just plain fist to fist fighting was what made Bourne a success. These recent changes are to make Bond less of a classical legend, and more in tune with the younger generation. Hence, the removal of the classic quotes, the dialog, just pure explosion, micheal bay style.

im not sure i like where this is going. bourne is bourne because of what he is, and bond is bond because of the legend that he become. trying to change one into another distorts everything. they were able to tone down the chessyness in Casino Royale, but this went over board. IMH, that cheesyness and cocky attitude is what makes Bond so awesome, while Bourne is more of a raw, make do of whatever you have character.

I was bored for a little while in Casino Royale. When Bond 'quit' and was just cruising around with the girl - that part bores me every time. Fortunately it's not very long until some more action.

I'm going to go ahead and disregard the reviews (as I pretty much always do...) and judge it for myself in a month.

I admit maybe we were considered this time around because of the extra coverage UFC was getting and they wanted a broader audience for this release? IDK. I can tell you that we aren't paid to do the reviews, the fun part of it is (mostly) being able to keep what we review and giving an honest opinion on what we're reviewing.
