I got a playstation 3 about a week ago and I'm trying to get the media sharing to work with WMP 11. The problem I'm having is my computer cannot see the PS3, I can't ping it's network IP, but the other computers on my network can... I'm hardwired to my router and so are the others, I'm running vista x64 and the other computers are running x32, but I don't think that makes a difference.

I have two onboard LAN cards in my computer. One is a nvidia nforce that I use regularly, the second is a marvel yukon that has major problems if I have 4gb of ram installed.

Anyway, the marvel yukon works, it can ping my PS3 and share media. But since I like to use my computer's 4gb of ram, its not really an option, I have to get the nvidia nForce one working.

I don't know what I need to do to get the nvidia nforce one working. As far as internet, sharing files across other computers, it has zero problems with that. It can ping other computers but the PS3.

do you have the marvell yukon NIC disabled in the BIOS or in Windows? have you installed a recent driver from nvidia.com?

I have yukon disabled in windows right now. I don't think theres a bios option for it. I'm not sure if or the time I installed a driver for the nforce network controller. I do have a roll back option.

run the route print cmd on a machine that can ping the PS3 and route print on the machine that cannot. notice the differences or post the output here.

not what I was looking for

first, tell me the IP of the PS3, the IP of the computer that cannot reach it, and the IP of the computer that can.

are they all on the same subnet? same network number and same mask? are you using DHCP on all 3 or have you configured a static address on any of them? can you ping other devices on the local network from the computer that cannot ping the PS3?

as far as the route print cmd goes, i don't know if that will really help assuming you are using DHCP to assign addresses to all of them. if you aren't sure about the setup, then do the following:

on the computer that can ping the PS3 and the one that cannot

start, run, cmd, route print [Enter] (do not specify an IP after the route print cmd)

Thanks for helping. Here you go.

PS3 IP: 192.168.1.102

Broken computer IP: 192.168.1.101

Working computer IP: 192.168.1.105

I think they are all on the same subnet? Everything is set up automatically. Although, I configured the PS3 and broken computer to static IP's but that did nothing to help. So they are back to automatic. I can ping other computers from the broken computer.

when you installed the nvidia driver did you install the firewall software that comes with it?

no.

I just installed the nforce drivers, with them came a ethernet driver but that did not help at all. Made me re-activate vista.

    • Anker announces global recall of five power bank models over fire safety risks by Aditya Tiwari The Chinese electronics brand, Anker Innovations, known for its mobile accessories and power banks has announced a voluntary global recall of five power bank models. The decision comes after the company spotted a potential fire hazard issue with lithium-ion battery cells from a particular vendor. Anker said that it put up a series of quality checks to detect manufacturing issues early in the production cycle, which include component level-audits and supplier testing. The company assured that "while the likelihood of malfunction is considered minimal, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to initiate a voluntary global recall of several Anker power bank models." Here's the list of the Anker Power Bank models chosen for the global recall: Model A1257 - Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) Model A1647 - Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, Built-In USB-C Cable) Model A1652 - Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh, 7.5W) Model A1681 - Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C and Lightning Cable) Model A1689 - Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, 30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) If you think you own one of the affected power banks, you can check the model number located on the back or side of your power bank. After that, you can fill out the recall form to start the process and verify the serial number of your affected device. If your power bank is eligible for the recall, you can either get a replacement or receive a gift card for use on the Anker website. It's not offering any refunds in the US at the moment. Anker advises that you should stop using an impacted power bank immediately even if the device functions normally right now. A unit confirmed for the recall could pose the risk of overheating, melting, smoke, or fire. This is the second major recall from Anker in the same month after more than a dozen reports of fires and explosions. The company previously recalled over one million Anker PowerCore 10000 (A1263) power bank units, citing fire safety risks due to a potential issue with the Lithium-ion battery. These power banks were sold in the US from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2022.
