the theme is " Louie Mantia - Black " can be found in the Summerboard Themes section of Installer.app

Ah I get it thanks mate :)

One more thing, that theme did u make that theme yourself and is it available for download?

but thats 320kbps~ roughly for all tracks? -V0 VBR would be much better and you'll get much more music on there.

It fluctuates actually. The most common bitrate I use is 192kbps... But I do have a lot of variable bitrates in the 230-250 or sometimes 350 range.

I'm not sure I would want to re-encode all those songs just to save some space... I may end up having to though one day.

Jailbreaking will remove the warranty, hands down.

For the person who said it will temporarily remove the warranty, it doesn't not technically.

Jailbreaking it, then restoring it, and then sending it in under warranty is warranty fraud. There may be justification for it (as the device is so weak from the box), but it is still illegal.

Just something to think over.

Well whos going to know & it does nothing to the Touch after you restore it to factory settings.

i like mine it was jailbroken but since put it back to normal 1.1.3 with software update (yes i bought it) and now just waiting to see how SDK and apps come in February before i consider jail breaking again.

That wasn't my point. I think jailbreaking an iPod Touch is the only proper course of action, but the thread starter seems to be worried about the warranty, so don't lie to him and tell him the warranty is fine. Apple won't know, but it still is warranty fraud.

it does not void the warrenty on the Hardware Itself.

and i doubt its fraud as reseting it puts it back to factory settings, if the problem is still there, then its with the Original software ( which to warrenty repair will have to be loaded to new firmware making the jailbreaks null and void) if its not there, then the issue is with the modified software

mines still 1.1.1, im not going to update till the SDK is out and i find out if they are going to be charging for the apps like they did with 1.1.3. i would have upgraded if the 1.1.3. apps were free. not going to upgrade to limit my touch's functionality and have to PAY for the reduced functionality

firmwares free 1.1.3 updates as usual just you have to buy apps through itunes store thing if you want them there is jailbreaking to get the apps free and to upgrade to jailbroken 1.1.3 but i would rather see how SDK goes before i consider mucking it up or around.

Must be some long tracks on there then! I personally don't like the sound of MP3 that much anymore. even on its highest bitrate it still sounds a little iffy. Anywho, thats for a different topic!

Jailbroke mine and a lot of stuff is for novely and just farting about with, but there is quite a few gems. When apple release the SDK i'll have a go at making a few ideas I have planned for the Touch. Can't be bothered to faff about with the unofficial SDK, its a bit of a pain, and not that well documented as of yet.

I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god I am soo happy!!..I opened the box.. and looked at it..

OK its charging now and im downloading itunes.. GOD DAMN IT itunes is 55 MB!!! Now I am not happy with one little thing, and that is:

WHY THE HELL IT DIDNT COME WITH A POWER CHARGER? This is Ridicules!.. USB Charger?.. why? I wasent going home for a while, we drove stright to a friends house who does not have a working computer.

I plugged it into his ps2.. and it did nothing... Come ON APPLE.. The ipod should of bloody came with a Power Charger.. not this USB crap.

Anyways.. I'm still downloading itunes...And I cant wait to use this baby.

I have both a 16GB Touch and an Archos 605 WiFi. For day to day use, the iPod is far better. Wifi browsing is excellent and fast. Still, when it comes to most browsing I have to use my MBP linked over BT and HSDPA when I'm out and about.

The Archos is better for watching video, and long journeys.

Must be some long tracks on there then!

True, I suppose that is a vital point.. I do listen to a lot of power and progressive metal, so their songs tend to push 7 minutes or more.. My longest songs are at 24 minutes.

THIS saves the day though: http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/...touch-hits-32gb

I will have to reconsider all this.

Do I have to sign up to itunes store inorder to get album art on my ipod?.. I already have album art in iTunes but its not showing on my ipod.

Yes you need to have an account to get album artwork through itunes feature automatically or you can add it manually without it through the tagging system.

The ipod heats up like any battery in any battery powered device when charging.

grats, i got mine same time as a 80GB classic, after using the touch, i have rarely used the classic

recommendation : if your goign to use a FM transmitter, be careful. the one i have kills the touch in under an hour and heats it up to where its hard to touch. i would recommend getting accessories that say they are compatible with the touch ( i got my transmitter Pre-Touch and it has built in charger by plugging into sig lighter)

just got it today and loving it :D typing this from it now and have no regrets in purchasing it :)

    • Free Software Foundation Europe pushes EU to force Google to allow AI uninstalls on Android by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels Users should be able to fully uninstall AI-based features from Android devices and be able to access interoperability functions, free from Google’s verification requirements, the European Commission has heard as part of an Android interoperability consultation under the Digital Markets Act. These measures were proposed by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) last week when it submitted its documentation. The FSFE noted that Google had started silently installing AI models without telling users. It noted that the EU’s DMA requires companies like Google to allow users to uninstall pre-loaded software from their devices, but in the case of the AI models Google is installing, they reinstall if you delete them, contravening the DMA. To get Google back under control, the FSFE has told the European Commission that there needs to be improvements within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). First, it said that users should be able to fully remove pre-loaded AI components from their devices, with companies being prohibited from silently reinstalling or reactivating them. Second, access to Android interoperability features should not be contingent on registration, authorization, or contractual relationships with Google. This pertains to Google’s attempt to force developers to register with Google, even to publish apps to alternative app stores like F-Droid. Discussing its submission, Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager, said: Google is planning to roll out its Android Developer Certification in September 2026. This will force every Android app developer to register with Google before their software can be installed on certified Android devices, but it should affect those who have removed Google Apps from their device. The program is controversial because it entails the signing of contracts and payment of account fees to Google, as well as the handing over of the identities of developers. It said: The FSFE said that if the Commission’s draft measures remain unchanged, then Google will be allowed to make developers verify their identity. The FSFE believes that asking developers to register is contrary to the text and spirit of the law. In summary, the FSFE has told the Commission that no developer should need a Google account, a Play Store presence, or any agreement with Google to access Android’s interoperability features.
    • You could disable this "functionality/feature/whatever" with 2 registry keys, ages ago.
    • My Photos app is version 2026.11050.1001.0 and it remembers the window size and position. My Snipping Tool is version 11.2602.49.0 and it can capture the taskbar.
