I was having a few problems with 2.0.7 and this new version seems to have sorted the main problem that I was having reloading pages! I am not sure if anyone else has had that problem but so far so good! Thank you for the heads up it looks great!

I tried to edit my post but it would not let me!!

I was having a few problems with 2.0.7 and this new version seems to have sorted the main problem that I was having reloading pages! I am not sure if anyone else has had that problem but so far so good! Thank you for the heads up it looks great!

Edit: I did not really describe the problem that I am having with Maxthon. Please if anyone has some help or advice I would be very grateful! The problem was NOT resolved after I updated Maxthon. I thought it was! I use Firefox, Maxthon and IE7. Maxthon is my main browser. The problem ONLY occurs when I am at Neowin, no other sites seem to be a problem! If I have opened a thread in a new tab and try to refresh the page it refuses to reload the page. If I close the browser using the setting that opens the last pages that were in use everything reloads and all is well again! Try to refresh a page at Neowin and the same thing happens again! Using IE7 or Firefox this does not happen!? I can refresh ANY other web pages in Maxthon and I do not have this issue! I am completely stumped and the worst part of the problem is that Neowin is the site that I visit every day and when you are following a topic I do not want to have to close the browser and restart it every time I need to refresh a page! Help would be great, thanks in advance!

2.0.8 final version is out already!

The Downloader(and browser) is nice but it still have lots and lots, lots of huge rooms for improvement.

It would be nice if they could:

- Implement option to have the download info window show only when downloading and make it auto close on download done.

- Implement option to auto delete completed tasks. (theres deted task and recycle bin = manually del 2 times)

- If possible make the Maxthon Downloader to have its own window, like the one from IE7Pro.

- Or maybe put it to the sidebar.

I don't quite like their idea of dumping features into webpages, like the Setup Center and the Downloader.

Simply try TheWorld instead.

I tried Maxthon for almost 2 years from classical edition to 2.x alpha, beta to current 2.0.8.1720. But no matter what version Maxthon is, it has a severe memory leak & GDI leak. That can not be tolerated.

TheWorld 2.x implements MOST of Maxthon functions, including 'one-thread per tab' feature as well, and IMHO transporting Maxthon plug-ins to TheWorld is farely easy.

The only thing I missed for Maxthon is FLV-sniffering. I have to keep Orbit's Grab++ open to capture stream URLs.

So try the 888KiB single-exe TheWorld:

I was about to swtich from FF...but as loyal fan of FF...i stay..beside is base on IE...

You should be more open minded! Maxthon totally beats FF hands down.

Its not based on IE, it uses the IE core, and it used to have a second rendering engine that could be used anyway - not sure if they still implement that.

Try it! You'll love it!

Plus it'll be more secure than FF is anyway :)

what's the difference?

call me when the "browser" could render my site.

Maxthon barely scores 14 in the Acid 3 Test.

Did you completly miss what was said above you?

If this browser had zoom out feature I would be all over it

I suggest you take a look at the zoom drop down in the bottom right corner then. You can use the pre-defined or enter your own numeric zoom values, under 100% too.

Maxthon uses IE's rendering engine and there is no point to measure maxthon's score in rendering engine tests.

If IE8's engine can pass the acid test, maxthon will also pass when it has made the changes required, obviously not at the moment, to use the IE8 engine the same way as IE8 does.

Yet I couldn't care less of the acid test as I don't browse it even once a year.

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
